So it has been a while since I have updated this blog. A few new types were evaluated some time ago but what I have learned is that if it doesn't really do anything for me, I don't really have the urge to write about it. The three new types were Grov Portions, General Original Portion, and Skruf Original. Lets start with the best, Grov.

I like this one, nice even tobacco notes with a mild earthy leathery profile that doesn't get real bitter. It doesn't have any outstanding taste features nor is it lacking in anything either. This is kinda the theme for this installment, as Jane's Addiction once said, nothing's shocking. Now that isn't a bad thing, I wouldn't mind having Grov in my normal rotation but when I run out I don't know if I would run to the computer to order more right away. However I can see buying a roll of this down the road and working through it over the course of six months or so. A solid B+ for me.

Next up is General OP. All I can say is there is no doubt it is an SM product. No doubt it is a traditional lemon/pepper/bergamot-like taste profile. No doubt it would do in a pinch if you are looking for an average portion with that type of taste. And no doubt I would only buy if I happened to see it at a brick and mortar store and was in need to replenish my stock.

Finally is my big disappointment...Skruf Original. Yeah yeah, some of you may be screaming heresy since Skruf Sterk is a favorite around here with some members but I have to say I blew through the can of Skruf Original in between other products and never gave it a second thought. The flavor was OK but too mild. The rose oil thing was lost on me, shoot, I can't even describe the profile now and I had my last portion just two days ago! I wouldn't buy this version again but would give another version a try at some point but for now there are lots of other brands I would try first.

Overall I am glad I got the Grov but it still doesn't compare to Ettan's for me in terms of pure tobacco types. If any others end up being preferred (N&J Strong and GN Oden's Original coming up) this may fall to the back of the class. The other two are evaluated and counted in the march to 100 but won't be seen on any order form any time soon.
