The year is 2024. Artificial intelligence is taking over the internet and industry, the world is in turmoil, global warming is a threat to our way of life, corporate greed is at an all time high...but we still got snus.

I am surprised at the current state of snus, especially after surviving the PACT ACT and the snuspocalypse. Brands and flavors have come and gone, and now we are looking at the tobacco free snus market taking over. The choices are overwhelming, and the flavors are everywhere. One can walk into any gas station and buy these all white pouches in the USA, and the kids are doing it. They are "Zynning" if you will.

So, why has snus not become more mainstream?

Maybe it is big tobacco deciding that all white portions are the way to go. In the era of disposable digital cigarettes and the decline of dipping, all white portions have found a market. An informed and wary generation that wants their nicotine, but in a safer and less tobaccoey delivery system. The question is, as this generation ages, will the next generations eliminate tobacco from our nicotine experiences? Are cigars and pipes a relic of the past? Will we see tobacco outlawed?

Ehhh, probably not. There is too much money in it right now.

But Monkey, what about the kids?

Mannnn, f*** them kids. I want real tobacco.

I remember the hey days where I could place an order for five tins, pay twenty dollars, and have snus at my door in a few days. My latest order really wasn't that far off. 20 tins for a hundred dollars delivered in three days. Yes, there is less real snus selection and tons of all white portions. Yes it has to come UPS now with a signature. Yes some, nay all of my favorites have disappeared or changed...but it isn't nearly as bad as it seemed it would be ten years ago when we were looking towards the future.

There are new flavors and formats. Slim portions? Yes please. And look at the flavor options! There are still the classics like Ettan and Prima Fint available in a loose format. Now when I pull out a tin of snus most people think it is Zyn and I don't get the same look because maybe that has started to become more socially acceptable. Oral nicotine use is less stigmatized in the younger generation than it was in mine (Xennial here) and maybe still is...

I'm not sure of the future of snus, but I still have hope in 2024.
