Oliver Twist Advice for Newb Please

With my goal of harm and risk reduction, I have made the move from cigarettes, to Red Man chew, to Swedish snus. However, while browsing the Northerner site today I noticed this product called Oliver Twists. I noted that they were made in Denmark so I assume the safer tobacco curing process is applied there as well? I guess this means the juice generated from an O. Twist would be ok to swallow? Non-spitting is key for me as administering my nicotine must remain discrete. Anyone who's sampled these things......please respond. Cheers.

PS anyone heard of a Swedish loose leaf chew?......just preparing in case i don't dig snus!

Are you talking about the Oliver Twists that are essntially a dry block of tobacco braided together into a thick twizzler kind of look? Like a giant twisted slimjim of dried out tobacco?

If so, than I have tried it before. Frankly I didn't care much for it,the tobacco is completely dry, and you have to chew on it fo a while to get it going. The juices are not something I would want to swallow, and I spit them out at the time. Not sure if this is the same product, but it was called olivers twist and I bought it in north carolina.

It's neat to try, but it's nowhere close to snus imo.

I tried the original flavor a couple years ago. It's not processed like snus. You probably want to spit the juice and I don't think it's as "safe" as snus.

I found this thread as well:

The Oliver Twists in the little can are so small, like the size of a BB. While they tasted ok, they were not good, due to their size.

I agree. The can is small, the bits are small, and they would be expensive if you used them instead of snus probably. Try them though, for the experience.

I have not tried Oliver Twist but did try Picanell which is supposed to be similar. The tobacco is processed American tobacco and I am assuming that this product has a fairly high TSNA count. Also, the bits were very small and tasted like chewing tobacco to me. My guess is you will definitely choose snus over this product for health and satisfaction.

                    I stand corrected.

To me, if they were bigger, I might like them. But they are literally the size of a BB, and having this BB in my mouth just wasn't enjoyable for me, even the taste was not bad, I had the original. I'd rather try the General or Roda Tobacco Cuts.

I've tried Oliver Twist licorice.. not something I'd have daily..

It's pretty much like chew... but gets messy in the mouth towards the end...
                        Too aromatic for me.

I've only had one Oliver Twist. I got the Bergamot. I didn't like it. It's been half a year since I tried it and it's been in my freezer since so I'll give it another whirl now that I've read this thread. Like vegan, I also tried the Picanell. That stuff rocks, IMO. Yeah, they're small but I use two. I think they last just as long if not longer than snus and I don't spit. I've got only a few bits left and I'd order it again though I think Northerner is the only place I've found them.

The first video is about the last German chewing tobacco factory by Grimm & Triepel.

A few weeks ago, when one of my snus-shipments was delayed in customs for 3 weeks (yeah, shouldn't happen with inner-EU shipments of a a non dutiable product, but happens sometimes, when post workers make mistakes or customs officers are looking for letter bombs etc.) and my snus was getting very scarce, I mainly used Oliver Twist, Piccanell (R.I.P.) and Hanewacker Kautabak (by Grimm & Triepel) for some days. It's possible to use these chewing tobacco bits all day long (like some people in America use Red Man all day) and their taste really is a welcome alternation from the "salt & soda" snus taste. But now, having enough snus on hand again, I'm back to 95% snus-use.

When I was new to snus and the taste became a bit boring after some weeks, chewing tobacco bits really affirmed my faith in smokeless tobacco. Everyone should try them IMHO.

                            Cheers!
