    Grimm and Triepel At MrSnuff

I've been wanting to try this for awhile. I believe chainsnuser has had it. Anyone else?

Is it a plug or what.....it looks almost like a tap box or pipe tobacco tin

It's like Oliver Twist, but I don't know what the final presentation or flavor's like.

They come in thin sticks - imagine what Oliver Twist bites look like before they have been cut up - it's like several mini twists in a packet.

They are sweeeeeeeeet! The tobacco is pretty strong and they're flavoured with molasses or fruit juice - but I couldn't stomach the sweetness - there's no salt in there at all either.

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!

            I've had some of this

            http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...an=305&cat=109

I didn't really like it that much, if it was all i could get then it would do i guess!

But too pricey for the amount.

                Thanks...........that explains the packaging

I don't like the sound of it being super sweet though

Maybe you can find one that is less sweet

I still use it. The flavor is very complex. Sweet, smoky, leather-like, with notes of dried prunes and port wine.

It's still made after a recipe from the 1840's.

Here's a similar recipe from that time:

After all I know, the founder of the company visited the U.S.A., came back with a chew-recipe and altered it a little according to the European taste of that time.

                  Cheers!

I'm sold, at least once. I'm all about historic German stuff :^)

Should I get one of each? Not the tin, at least at first. That's a lot of money at once.

I'm thinking there's 2 flavors, and perhaps 3 cuts? If so, I could get 3 packages, and be able to try it all.

                      Grimm & Triepel Hanewacker No.5
                      Grimm & Triepel Hanewacker No.7
                      Grimm & Triepel Kruse No.5
                      Kruse No.7

It's 2 cuts (No.5 bigger, with 12 pieces, No.7 smaller, with 16 pieces per package) and 3 (very similar) flavors. Fischerstift should be the mildest, Hanewacker the strongest stuff and Kruse is told to be in between, but it's hard to tell a difference.

I usually order all 3 No. 5 varieties, because there's often a slight difference in freshness depending on the stockkeeping of the vendors.

To get an idea about Kautabak, I think it would be sufficient to order 1 Kruse No.5 and 1 Kruse No. 7.

                        Cheers!

With a description like this... it is either going to be very good or very bad.

lex... if you do order, keep us informed. I too am very fond of the German snuffs and have been keeping my eye on these... what has been scaring me is the sugar... last thing in the world I need to do is loose more teeth!

Yea, I don't think chew is something I'd want to make a full time habit of, largely due to the sugar. I don't think the occasional piece would hurt though; no worse than candy anyway.
