Which chewing tobacco would you recommend?

I'm thinking about ordering some chew next time I order from Mr Snuff, and maybe a can of dip to try out also (like Grizzly Wintergreen).

Which brand would you recommend of chew? I've heard a lot of talk about Red Man, but raisin taste does not sound that appealing to me.

They have A LOT of stuff there... Here is a link:

    Thanks!

I'm not familiar with most European chews aside from Oliver Twist. Raisin is the stock flavor for the Americans. I like Levi Garrett. It's sweeter than RedMan, and has a bit less burn. It isn't intensely raisiny, just kind of a mild fruitiness. That's what tobacco is to me. So much so, that many times I first associate the flavor with tobacco rather than fruit.

I'm with the Red Man. Beechnut is good too for a first time and it's a little more tame than Red Man.

I like Red man and Beechnut both are good choices. Dont worry about the "raisin flavor" I think Roda los taste raisiny also. As far as dip I love Copenhagen wintergreen and highly recomend it and Copenhagen Black! Grizzly wintergreen is a strong chemical and fake taste IMHO. Grizzly mint is the best Grizzly to me

Stokers Tennessee chew is my favorite (didn't follow the link) followed by their cherry and apple. Good quality chews and not so raisin flavored.

They are all good. I have had most every type of American. Red man is good, not to much of a raisin taste. very good. They also have red man golden blend which is great. Levi is always good. Beechnut is very sweet and good. Lancaster is extremely sweet and very tasty. You cant go wrong with any.

Thanks a lot everyone for your insights and tips! I'm curious to try it out, so I might add some of the ones you mentioned. The question is if I should order a can of dip as well. Seems to mess up the gums a lot...

One shouldn't hurt, and you'll get to see what it's about. It's like Indian oral tobacco, I really don't trust it, but would try it once for the experience. If I were to get a single can of dip, I'd get Copenhagen snuff, as it's the oldest, most traditional brand still being made. It's the American Ettan.

That's what I'm thinking as well! I don't really trust it as well, and would rather use snus as I know that is less dangerous, but I do want to see what the fuzz is about. I hope I don't fall in love with it, haha. Copenhagen Snuff you say... got it! I think I'll get me a can of that together with some Red Man chew.

I got some of the Gawith Hoggarth pig tails a couple years ago, it's like chewing on a cigar

If you have never used dip before i would NOT get copenhagen snuff for your first time! You will be sick to your stomach if you accidentally swallow a little. lol. You have to work up to it.

Cope snuff prob will turn you off to dip if its your fisrt time. Thats why I recomend Long Cut or Wintergreen Copenhagen first they are sweeter and still good products

i would say go with something with a little less nicotine than copenhagen if you are only used to snus. copenhagen is one of the strongest out there. Grizzly is really strong as well.

Honestly Heders I would not be that scared to try using dip or chew at all If I were you. Is it going to tear your gums up severely after a single can? No. After 50 years of use? Yes. Some people on this board vilify and scare monger American tobacco products a little more than necessary, I believe.

For Flavored Dip: Skoal Peach, Timberwolf Peach, Skoal Mint, Copenhagen Wintergreen, Redman Straight

For Natural Dip: Finecut Copenhagen and Longcut Copenhagen, Extra Longcut Natural Copenhagen (I would say try Long Cut Copenhagen first, as it is a bit easier to manipulate)

For Chew: Red Man Golden Blend, Levi Garett, Beechnut

Hope the advice helps your purchasing decisions!
