    The Chew Thread

Anyone here use loose leaf chew?

I am curious to try some. I'm enjoying dip, and want to see how the larger cut loose leaf would be.

Any recommendations? I know there is a lot out there.

If any exist, I think I'd like a low sweet natural type.

The Amish ones I linked are fairly low in sugar for leaf chew. I prefer Levi Garrett because it's sweet and mellow. Redman has a big following, but it isn't my favorite. Other than that, I don't know. I'm not a big chewer, so when I found Levi, I quit trying others. That does it for me for my once a year or so leaf fix.

Lol I'll dabble in this thread too I guess. no matter the type I like Oral tobacco.

W.B. is a dry stringy loose leaf tobacco, had no flavor other than tobacco, a very close reminder of Copenhagen or Grovsnus. Worth a definate try, a bag is a tad bit on the expensive side.

Redman Silver. It does not use sugar but rather a natural sweetener. Not like splenda or anything, but just not sugar. Little more mellow but my opinion the best redman.

Partial fan of Beachnut Wintergreen because of the VERY mellow wintergreen flavor.

As lxskllr the Amish Brand he mentioned in another thread provides loose leaf that varies in flavor and sweetness. Like a no sugar to max sugar. Worth mentioning and try. I personally haven't tried it but awefully interested in giving them a tad bit of business and lxskllr's approval is good enough for me.

Approval might be a bit strong :^D

I had the honey cured, and it was a very unique chew. It tasted a bit like a barn floor, and had a moderate burn, and was on the dry side. I haven't had it in 25 years, so the product, or my tastes may have changed. I think it's worth a try in any case, as it's a small producer, and a unique product. I imagine it's what leaf chew was like in the 1800s

Purchased a bag of Levi today, because of this thread. I almost forgot how much I enjoyed it. The final price of $7.57 was a bit of a downer.

Gonna check out the Redman silver tomorrow. The local corner store has sample packs for $1.50.

            What's the WB?

Next time I'm out, I'll just grab something. That WB sounds good, and the Redman silver seems worth a try.

I found WB on a website. Thanks for all the replies. I'll get some next time I'm out. It's weird how one thing leads to another. I went from snus to snuff, but quit snus, then took it up again, then to dip, and now I am looking at loose leaf.

I was just totally attempting to kiss your ass. But you said something I never heard of and further looking into it made me realize "HEY COOL!" I enjoy the taste of barn floors and as long as the burn in my mouth isn't as bad as the burn in my urination I'll be all good!

Ok so I was lying about the burn in my urination. More like in between my toes whenever danger is near. Spider sense maybe? Who knows.

I saw that too, but didn't feel like registering. I might later. Or just buy it, it's not like buying a diamond ring.

Anyone try this stuff called "scrap tobacco"? Seems also a generic term for chew, but the site I saw has it in clear ziptop bags, and they say Scrap on the label. What I can figure, is it's non flavored chew strips.

                          Got some chew today!

Didn't get to go to the tobacco shop like I wanted, but we went to the grocery, to get groceries, and I looked to see what they had.

They had the big name brands so I got 3 bags:

                          Red Man
                          Levi Garrett
                          Beech-Nut

                          All original.

Just stuck a wad of Red Man in, tastes pretty good.

These bags cost more than dip cans. I'll see how long a bag lasts.

My main complaint of dip, is it all flaking in my mouth, floaters, etc. Now some are worse than others, but this loose leaf doesn't seem to have this issue.

If it turns out you like chew, definitely get some Stokers. You should be able to get it at a local tobacco store. I seriously enjoy the cherry and the Tennessee chew they make every so often, but it keeps well the last of my current bag has lasted 4 months.

I need to go get some more soon.

Try that WB if you can find it. I'm going to contact that Amish place this on monday about ordering a couple bags to try it out.

And if your turned off by the sugar try that redman silver if you have that around.
