OK, I haven't been dipping lately, but I was craving some Copenhagen, and curious to try the new Copen Black, but the store I go to did not have it, so last time I bought this Longhorn Fine Cut Natural, because I still wanted some loose dip tobacco, and that stuff was horrid. The tobacco store is out of my way, which is why I rarely get to go there, and usually get stuff at the local grocery when I shop, and their variety and quality varies greatly. So, while I was still having this Copen crave, and was out today, but nowhere near a proper tobacco store, I stopped at this mainly cig and snack shop, and they did not have any Copen at all, no Skoal Classic, they did have an old can of Timber Wolf Long Cut Natural, but it had the old non-warning lid, so I suspect it must be really old. I wish dip cans did away with their date code, and just had an easy to read best by date on the bottom. Well, what they did have, and what I got, is Grizzly Long Cut Natural. I have had this before, but it was a long while back, and I remember liking it. I don't know the date on this can, but it is a metal lid with the warning, so I'm hoping it's decent age-wise.
OK, now to the can. Like a silver grey color, metal lid. Looks nice. Let's open it, and look and smell it. Looks fine, not very moist, but it seems OK. Smell is not bad, has a slight sweetness in the aroma. Pleasant. Let's try some in the cheeck now. I put 2 decent pinches in the cheek. Stuff is kinda lumpy, I remember it being like that before, not a detriment, just noticeable.
OK, I got some in. Taste is starting to be noticable. Not bad... I'm using a plastic cup to spit in. Not heavy salty. To me, Copen Orig LC is the king of dips, and this is not as good, per smell, cut, and taste, but this is not bad. I'm trying to recall how 1900 tasted. I've had that a few times, and liked it OK, this is different than that one. Starting to feel the nic come on now. I'm going to change sides. Hmmm, that really lived it up. Better now, kinda Copenish.
Overall score hmm... I guess 4 out of 5. Not as good as Copen OLC, similar. Maybe on par with 1900 but different. Not sure which of those 2 I prefer. Seems 1900 is aimed at being a cheaper Copen, but I think this may taste more similar. This is a nice decent natural, and the cut is easy to use.
