    Expired Skoal-Is it good?

I just picked up a can of Skoal Vanilla.
The expire date is Aug. 21, 2010.

I'm a snuser and not a dip expert.

    Should I return it?

IMO the Vanilla was bad even before that date.

You can add distilled water to it but I'd only say do that if you intend to use it in a day or two. The quality of dip does go down rather quickly past the dates, but I think that has more to do with how they're stored in the store. Most of the time they're just out there but sometimes the shopkeepers place the dip racks on top of a cooler or something and that makes for storage in a warm environment. Sucks. Add water and it'll be ok. If you bring it back they should exchange it for one that is in date but then again you might have a problem proving that you bought it at that store. Y'know how people are...

Well, it is a cig/tobacco store and I have their faded out receipt.
I can't really see Skoal on the receipt. One of those generic type.
I think it was their last can. Perhaps I'm due a cash refund.
Or can you recommend a better Skoal replacement flavor?

That's pretty old. As long as the can is unopened and you have a receipt, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'm a big fan of Straight.

I have a can of Apple Blend now...thanks to the review of OR Apple...it gave me a hankerin' for some apple dip.
          Peach rocks too.

I've picked up "old" dip, and it usually turned out fine. I got a can of Kayak Grape the other day, and it still had the old lid without the warning, so I suspect it must be kinda old, but it was OK to me. I'd suspect it's fine.

The Kayak Grape is not bad at all. Reminds me of grape Kool-Aid. I also have a Kayak Apple, I will probably open today. Kayak was like $1.68 a can.

OK. Thank you all for the
suggestions. I exchanged it for Copenhagen Original.
I figured I better trade it for another product of the
                  USST Co.

Now I tired some Hagen years back. Can you all recommend
the proper amount and technique,? I'll be waiting....

My grandpa used to use Copenhagen. He always had a roll
in the fridge and the occasional used load in the shitter.
Not to mention that Folgers spit can that got tipped
over once in awhile in his car.

My concern would be the TSNA levels, but that's me.

I was pretty young when I dipped, so I used small pinches. I guess I haven't changed much in that regard. I don't use a ton of snus at a time either. It seems like a lot of dippers use a lot, but I'd just take what gives you the flavor you want. I'd probably use ~1g at first, and see how that went.

OK. I'll give er a try tomorrow. I will only use it on occasion.
If I get caught somewhere without snus I want something
                        to fall back on.

The Copenhagen has a Made On Date
Sept 27th. He said that means it's fresh.
I thought he said that's when it was made in
                        Portland. ?

The date on Copenhagen is meant to be the made on date.

Just try it. I guess you got the Snuff? If so, it's really fine cut, and might be hard to pinch. I've used a spoon, and dropped some in my lower lip. Start wil a smallish amout, maybe the bulk of a gram. See how you feel, and add to it after 10 minutes or so if needed.

Unless your scraping for quarters for a value meal sandwich, I would never use a expired dip.
Those TSNA's pretty much hit the high 100's after that long. Not that one can will kill you but why would you add anything more evil to your body then you have to.

I have the fresh Copenhagen in now. I hadn't
read this first. I'm not sure how much I put in?
Probably about two pinches since a bunch
floated out. Where is the best place for it?
I have it on my left lower. Do I want it up
                              front and center?

It seems real fresh! I haven't tried it in years. I was never
a regular user. It seems more robust than I remember.
It has a salty roasted flavor almost good enough to eat.
Perhaps I can taste it better now without cigs.

What about storage for this one can that I opened?
I will probably stretch it out for a week. Fridge or not
if I am taking it in and out?

                              thanks for your suggestions
