    I Might Be Switching...

I was at the gas station the other day and noticed a can of Timber Wolf Natural Pouches on the rack. I purchased a can and the total (after tax) came to $2.27. Each can contains 15 pouches and 23.25 grams of tobacco. When you compare the price to snus, it's significantly cheaper (most cans after tax end up costing approximately $4.25).

I'm interested in finding a less expensive alternative to snus, and I believe I have found it. I place the pouches in the upper lip just like snus and hardly get any drip. Timber Wolf interests me because it's cheap and has low levels of TSNAs. Has anyone else thought about switching from snus? I know it sounds like heresy, but the price of snus online is getting out of hand...

I'm in the same boat, and also dipping Timberwolf; longcut however. Its around $5.30 a can after tax. Cheaper than paying shipping costs and taxes, and way cheaper than a locally found can of General.

I thought were worried about leukoplakia? IMO, switching from snus to dip would be a step in the wrong direction. Kind of like smoking to give up snus.

You know that if you find a selection you like in the VIP club or on snusbargain, your overall costs of using snus will go down.

Snus would have to be $7.50 per tin to equal the cost of smoking when I quit. I use about 2 tins per week. If it got that expensive, I'd probably cut down before changing products.

The last time I checked, los snus is still less expensive than even low cost dip (even with the shipping) if you order in bulk (figure the price per gram).

Now that said, I have not run the numbers in the past few months, so I'm not sure where it stands exactly

I also agree with the others...........I would think twice before switching or even augmenting snus with dip.

There is more going on in American dip than TSNA.

And my brand was Timber Wolf Natural fine cut
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Don't you still have to spit with those pouches? The spitting is what I can't do.. I work in an office plus I don't want to be spittin in a damn bottle or whatever at home.

Have you tried snuff yet? It's gotta be the cheapest form of tobacco.. Toque is cheap. A few of those economy bags would last years probably..

Sheesh, I forgot about snuff. If snus got really expensive, I could probably get to a tin or less per week, and use snuff the rest of the time. I guess I could use snuff exclusively, but I really like snus. I wouldn't want to abandon it completely. I also agree about the spitting. That's a no go for me, whether at home, or in public. I just don't like it cause it drys my throat out. I'll put up with it for the rare leaf chew, but that's about it.

Yeah, snuff is the cheapest, you can get in bulk and hardly feel anything in your budget.

Snus is rather expensive for me too, at $10 per can since I'm ordering it from Sweden. (northerner until now and buysnus)

I found that ordering U.S dip (copenhagen) is slightly cheaper since it comes from the U.S and I only pay the shelf price + local tobacco taxes which are very low.

Well, the biggest appeal to snus for me, is the no-spit. Snus used to be cheap. Now it's not. I've got 3 cans left, and I am weighing options. I do think I will look locally, I hear there is a cigar shop with $3 something Generals.

But while I like nasal snuff, and even my new e-cig is interesting, they don't "satisfy" me.

I do use dip, spittin' baccer at home.

I don't know that I'd switch back to dip. When I get a can every now and again I can't use more than 4 dips per day or I just don't enjoy it. Maybe my lip is just not up for it and I can condition it to take the dip again but snus is so convenient. The spitting is so off putting for me. Can you swallow the little bit of drip you get from the Timber-pouches? I've wanted to try this but a prilla of dip in the upper lip is like a hot poker being shoved up there. It burns like the dickens for me and I can't seem to keep it there long enough to know. I guess I could try a dip pouch, but they're wicked expensive here in MA. My local liquor/cigar shop carries Nordic Ice and Klondike. I don't like either one, but I noticed them there yesterday. No general though. I suppose they'd get it for me if I asked. I gave the guy a portion a few years ago and he liked it but he lower decked it...and it was N&J East. He's a smoker though and I don't think that he'll ever quit.

Low TSNA"S? How did you find out about that? U.S.dip makers don't publish that info.

even with the shipping costs snus runs me about 5 bucks a can, still cheaper than smoking here in Illinois. Last time I bout a can of dip it over 5 dollars. I was in Wisconsin a few weeks ago aand ran out of snus, bought a can of bandits..................it was 7.70 for that little can!!

Also remember you can dip the scotch dry snuffs. I find they don't lead to that much spit. Granted I have never dipped moist snuff before, long cut or otherwise so my experience frame of reference is limited. I have dipped the scotch snuffs out of curiosity. I prefer to snus for now.
