    REVIEW: Longhorn Fine Cut Natural

I could not find a Longhorn section in the Dip Reviews section. It might be a good idea to make the review sections by the maker, such a USST, Swisher, Pinkerton(Swedish Match), etc. Just an idea.

Ok, went to the store today, and this store's dip selection seems to be getting worse every time I am there. I keep asking for the new Copen Black, but they never have it. I wanted a Long Cut Natural of some brands I haven't tried, like Timber Wolf, Longhorn, the main one's I have been looking for. But all they have is Fine Cut. I said, no thanks, and went shopping, then in the checkout lane, I was just wanting some loose tobacco, so I thought heck, I'll get a Longhorn Fine Cut Natural, and do the best I can with it. I like to dip on the side, and the fine cut is harder to pack. I also haven't dopped in a little while now, I keep telling myself I have quit, well, you know how it is. I do want to limit my dipping though, and all oral tobacco for that matter, to preserve my gum health. But I guess my 3-4 snus portions a day, and an occasional other item won't hurt me.

Ok, now on to the review, I have here an unopened can of Longhorn Fine Cut Natural. Decent looking plastic can, I like how they made the top warning label in to a circular band with the steer in the middle. I'm suprised that was allowed. I had some chicken soup so I hope that don't interfere, and I am drinking some diet cola.

I am now opening this can, I have no idea how long this thing has been sitting on the shelf, so let's see how it is. Well, it's very moist, so that's good. Smell, hmmm, not near as good as Copenhagen smells, I guess it's not bad smelling, but not really good either, I don't know how to describe it, kinda bitter smelling.

Ok, it's fine cut, so it may be hard to pinch, but I'll do what I can into the side cheek. OK... this is really moist. I guess I got enough in, about 4 smallish 2 finger pinches. First impression is not very good. Has a bitterish taste like the smell. Nothing at all like the hearty Copen flavor. I'm glad this was rather cheap. More salt would make this better. Tastes like stale cigarrettes, and the smell, with it in my mouth is like an old ash tray. Ugh, I should have stayed quitted dip. First initial review is not good. Starting to get a nic hit now.

    Score: 1/5
    Smells bad, tastes the same.

Might go in the trash and I am out $1.90.

I'll give it another try later on to see if it's changed any.

Well, this stuff tastes and smells like a full ashtray left out in the rain overnight.
I thought I'd try something, before I ditch the can.
I dumped the can out into a bowel, and took my salt shaker and shook some salt in it, trying not to do too much, but who knows.
I took a decent pinch and stuck it in my right cheek, after stirring it up well of course.
Well...... I think I shook a little too much in, but it does seem better, maybe.... now it's salty ashtray dirt.

Well, it's saying something if it's better now with some salt. I guess salt makes everything better.
But the betterness is maybe a half-point more than what it was. Still has that ashtray taste, now with salt.
Why do I torture myself this way?

That stuff was crap, and I didn't last long with it. So that can of ashtray dirt went in the trash. The added salt did not help it.

I am just going to take a wild guess here Tom but I am thinking that Longhorn Fine Cut Natural will not be in your regular rotation.

Longhorn (any variety) is horrible. And you're not missing much when it comes to Copen Black. I have a can in the fridge right now I've had for a week and have taken 3 dips out of. It's pretty disgusting as well and is a fine cut.

This is a brilliant review, thanks Tom, you really put an effort into it. I have limited experience of American dips but can swear detecting diesel oil flavour in Grizzly something with strong artificial flavour, maybe it was Wintergreen long cut.

You are not making it sound very appealing.

Copenhagen black is not a fine cut it is close to a mid-cut same cut as Copenhagen Long Cut.
It's alright. Not as amazing as everyone has said, but not bad.
