    Skoal Straight Long Cut

I've opened a can of Skoal Straight Long Cut ... and a strong aroma of Wintergreen came out of the can.. it not only smells like Wintergreen but it tastes too ...

Is there something wrong with the can or that's how Skoal Straight is regularly ?

It's very sweet too... even sweeter than Skoal Peach

    That's weird.
    Straight is NOTHING like wintergreen.
    Maybe it was mislabeled?

I have heard other people say this too. I let my wife smell a can of Copenhagen Straight, and she said it smelled like wintergreen. It doesn't to me at all. Maybe whatever straight is, seems like wintergreen to some people?

Tobacco absorbs odors rapidly and easily. If it is stored near a wintergreen can the scent will leech over to the Straight can. This could possibly even happen during shipping. If I remember, it took a while for your dip order to arrive...and during the shipping I'm almost certain there was little or no refrigeration other than the flight across the pond. Also, the Skoal cans, and all US dip can for that matter, are terrible when it comes to being airtight. You'd be better off transferring your dip to a Gotlands can but as for the straight tasting like wintergreen it's ruined now so there's no going back. It's kind of like chocolate...put some mint chocolate near a milk chocolate bar overnight and it's ruined...to me anyhow. Mint is yucky.

Most dippers go through a can in a day or two, maybe three so if you use it at that rate the dehydration doesn't really come into play...maybe on the third day but not much. If the can lasts you longer then change out the can...you'll enjoy better, moister dip. Adding water doesn't hurt either. I've had good results with that in the past.

To back up WickedKitchen... I got some expired General lös from Clubsnus before they were gone, and it tasted like wintergreen. Not super strong, but strong enough to be bothersome. I assume it was stored near some wintergreen snus, and the flavor migrated. I'm not sure how it's done over time, as my cans have all gotten mixed together, and I don't know what came from where. I'll tentatively say the wintergreen taste has diminished over time, but we're talking months in the freezer. I've never had straight dip, so I don't know what it's supposed to taste like.

            Straights are pretty good.
Most straights are a smokey, peppery tobacco taste that has a sweetness to it.

This one tastes heavily like Wintergreen...

I think they put the wrong label on it ... it doesn't burn like Copenhagen Wintergreen does but it still tasted heavily like Wintergreen

              Anyway I like it ... but .... it's weird thought ....

Here's the can ... i have some in my mouth right now... definitely Wintergreen.....

I read somewhere that Gotlands Gul was a wintergreen snus. For the life of me, I can't understand that. Now, I'm not saying that your tastebuds are off or anything like that...Actually, I don't even know why I mentioned that. I just thought of it. If you like the way that can of Skoal tastes then good for you, man. I would find it very difficult to believe that a Skoal can got the wrong dip in it though. I'm sure it's happened but it's a one in ten million chance...if that.
