There's something a bit odd in the way that some of the lower down sub-forums load (like this one) ... but if you simply click the top of the right hand column of the forum twice (where it says "last post by") it will put it in to chronological order for you.
As for this thread ... well - you've just bumped it up to the top haven't you? :devilish:Squeezyjohn

Bump
If anybody still has a question about why straight and wintergreen may smell or taste similar (to me the sensory is totally different) is because they are chemically very similar. Wintergreen is AKA methyl salicylate...AKA salicylic acid methyl ester. Straight flavor is AKA ethyl salicylate...AKA salicylic acid ethyl ester. Esters are the product of combining an acid and an alcohol. So wintergreen is salicylic acid + methanol. Straight is salicylic acid + ethanol. Wintergreen in produced naturally by Birch trees...ethyl salicylate isn't produced naturally by anything that I know of. I could wiki that but...correct me if I'm wrong. Both are applied at similar concentrations on the tobacco. Straight is kinda nasty IMO unless combined with a large slug of sweetener and even then, still nasty. But to each his own.

I tried a can of cope long straight that was on sale for next to nothing like 1.75 or 2 bucks! I too noticed this stuff smelled pretty freaking similar to wintergreen. I had to check the label again just to make sure. Either way it's amazing. Doesn't taste like wintergreen though. If I had the balls to actually use dip throwing caution into the wind I would probably use cope long straight. I would love to find a snus that actually fits the flavor profile. It's like a damn campfire under a beautiful star filled sky while a trusted uncle tells you of days past...drinking black coffee and enjoying some beans and rice while the smell of the roasting woods fill the air.
Snus is like a freaking science lab in your mouth while a bunch of random doctors question how the newest artificial eucalyptus flavor tastes while you cry a tear longing for your days on earth prior to leaving forever to live on Mars with these shmucksLast edited by Polluted; 06-10-15, 08:09 PM.
