The proper way to pack a can of dip

Yea I suck at packing haha It took me like 2 or 3 months to get it somewhat down and I still suck at it. Its just something you have to keep doing till one day it just clicks. Atleast that's what everyone told me and that's how it happened for me. The first couple times my finger hurt like hell but after that it was fine lol. For me when im at home I just beat the can on my leg, and when im out I pack it with my finger so I don't look like an idiot to all the experienced dippers haha

When I first learned to pack, I practiced without a can at all. I curled in my ring and pinky fingers, made my thumb and middle finger touch as if I was attempting to snap my fingers, and let my index lay loose. Follow through with the motion and it becomes second nature pretty soon after. It stings a bit at first but you get used to it. I find it tends to hurt more when you pack using the side of the can. I typically only use that method when the can is getting close to empty, as it seems to pack better then.

It just takes practice. I learned at age 14 or 15 so I really don't remember the mechanics I needed to learn, but I would say now that the main thing is keeping your pointer finger as loose as possible. I also hold the tin with my thumb on the bottom and ring-pinky fingers holding the top/lid. My pointer finger bangs the side of the can, rather than the top. I like the way this feels better, and it also packs the dip as tightly as possible in the bottom corner of the tin. Good luck.
