Do people dip outside the south?

I had a buddy tell me the other day that only southern men dip, and i know its not true but it got me to wondering where dippers came from?
So give me some feedback where are my fellow dippers at?

He was merely adding to the conversation by using Michigan (a northern state) as an example. He wasn't directly insulting you.

Hey bama, I'm in NY, when I lived in the city, it was rare to see anyone dipping, and when people saw me doing so, they thought I was crazy..trying to find a fresh can of dip was a challenge in Manhattan. The further upstate you get in New York and the further you get away from the city, the more dippers you find...I live about an hour and change from the city now, and there are some dippers, but way more smokers...I have friends from the South who tell me it is way bigger there.

I would use Minnesota to also support your claim that what your friend said is not true. Lots of dippers here. I enjoy the occasional can of Kodiak.
