when I used to play hockey I noticed one of the kids in the locker room was mixing skoal cherry with skoal straight, not sure why they did it, maybe to tone down the cherry flavour or the sweetness?

also to be on topic, I only know a handful of people who dip in here in HK, not something you see very often

I live in Illinois and I give my wife a lil dip every once in a while.

      she loves it.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I think it all has to do with the social acceptance of dip where you're at... and folks in big metropolitan areas certainly look down their nose at folks dipping. When I lived in downtown Chicago, the ONLY person I met that dipped openly was a guy I knew from Norway. This was a long time before I knew about snus (2007ish) but now it makes more sense to me as to why he did... he liked tobacco, didn't want to smoke it, and a can of dip was more up his alley being from Norway. Anyway.. I live just south of the city now and there's tons of dippers as well as smokers around here. It's Illinois and everyone is pissed off and sucking down cigarettes like it's going out of style.

I dunno, I don't think it's an urban/rural thing. Here in Va just about everybody dips, it's just a question of which brand. usually country boys dip cope or skoal, city boys dip grizzly, and I'm the lone hippie standing off to the side with a can of General in one hand and a corncob pipe in the other.

I remember the year of highschool i went in central VA. Teachers would ask students if they had any dip on them, and use it during class. That was just a few years ago. I remember I could get a can of longhorn for like .99 and grizzly was like 1.99 with skoal and cope at about 3.99. The only downside is if you had to get a pinch from someone you were stuck for hours listening all about their shitty truck.

You only have to listen if you're the guy who loads up a 1/4 can horseshoe on a borrowed pinch. You're at the mercy of the supplier then.

Being the new "yankee" at school as they called me i did not care much for that style of living. I don't care about cars much and especially give zero shits about trucks. A day wouldn't go by where you dont hear 2 sets of 15 rednecks yelling at eachother across the hallway "chevy's shit" "no fords shit" "truck truck mctruck truck" "your truck couldnt truck a truck truck" "oh yeah well truck you" I understand that is typical but the whole style of living really wasn't for me. I"ll never forget that year of highschool where the schools mascot wasn't a real thing and was named after the schools abbreviation.

Sounds like the school I went to. I've seen rivalries start over truck preference. The quickest way to start a fight was to tel someone your truck was faster than theirs.

The mighty fluvanna county flucos. I was that "weird" guy that didnt like to talk about trucks. As much as I'd hate to insult the people that live there....it was kind of like living in a 3rd world country. People would pretend to be poor for some reason. Their parents lived in the 500k lakefront house right next to my parents yet they wanted to talk about how poor and "totally redneck" they were. Also the 08 fusion i would drive to school was looked down upon because it "waddn't a truck" "my truck would truck your trucks truck" 500 dollar trucks with 30k worth of stupid customizations to them for the overall benefit or driving from one place to another. I don't really understand the use of a truck outside of farming/having to haul shit a lot. I just see it as a driving machine with less room, higher insurance, and shitty gas mileage.
