Do people dip outside the south?

I live in central pa, in my local tobacco shop I usually see about 60% of the people in there buying dip and then around 30% buying bags of "pipe tobacco" to roll their own cigarettes, 10% actually buy packs/cartons of cigarettes.

Back when I smoked I was practically the only person that smoked exclusively - almost everyone else I knew dipped as well. So yea.. it's a pretty big deal around here and cans are always fresh. I don't think PA is considered the south but where I live is called pennsyltucky by some people

Isn't PA a big tobacco producing area? You usually will find that the areas that produce the baccy have a high yield of smokeless users (int he US at least) as its so cheap.

Hell I would dip all the time if it was sold here (as a stop gap until i could get snus).

Pennsylvania isn't the top producer, I did just look it up though, PA is #7 in the US. I primarily buy the tubs of stoker's for around $10, which translates to around $1/can. PA is the only state that doesn't tax smokeless tobacco. The store I'm talking about is in my town and I just walk to it. I can buy general there as well as pretty much any dip, chewing, or plug brand I want.

The semi-rural parts where I live - smokeless is just huge, as is hunting, fishing, kayaking, & dirt bikes/4 wheelers. This song actually has a lot of pictures of the area where I live..

hahahahah! Here in the UK nasal snuff isn't taxed, the only tobacco product that isn't taxed (other than VAT).

I am 25 years old and for the first time In my life I met someone who used oral tobacco and it was camel snus. He was from North Dakota but we live in California. I have never seen anyone chew here. I never even saw a can purchased until I moved to a rural area

I have a good friend that works for FDNY and lives in Manhattan. He dips and said lots of guys dip up there.

Nope there are dippers everywhere! It doesn't matter where you are you can find one if you know what to look for! Lol
