So I took the plunge, gingerly...

I actually bought and tried dip yesterday...

    Brand/Flavor: Copenhagen long cut straight.

Why? Well the cost of snus + the local availability made me think I should consider dip as an alternative. Plus a can of what I bought was on sale for $1.80 when at the grocery store.

So I dipped at two different points last night. The first time was after my workout while taking a shower, the next was later that night watching House on the DVR.

Thoughts: dip, particularly long cut is a lot easier to control than most los snus. Makes me think about trying the Thunder long cut varieties.

Spitting is inconvenient but not that terrible a pain, however it will limit when and where I might use dip. I have dipped american scotches before (dry snuff) so the long cut is much easier to manage than those.

Not sure I like the straight flavor, think I will try natural at some point, if this was to be regular I would like one that had the least "sweetness" and for that matter sugar to it. Didn't take very large pinches, maybe what would be a large pinch for say los, but not really. It was enough to know I was getting vitamin N.

Overall I guess it was ok, different experience. I prefer snus to dip for sure. But local availability and costs makes me consider this another viable and occasional alternative.

$1.80 for a can of Copenhagen is a damn good price. I don't see it around here for less than $5. Skoal and Cope always cost like $5 here, so when I buy dip, it's always Grizzly, like $3.50 a tin. I never found Cope straight to be "sweet." maybe that cause I'm used to the artificial sweet of the mints and wintergreens.

I think regular price for Cope around here is like $4.50, depending on where you go. I don't eat many sweets in general so even the slightest hint of sweet in something is noticeable to me.

So I have been having a dip or two a day, more often one, mostly because I am out of los snus so this is the best I can do.

I am not a big fan of the straight flavor, I mean it is interesting but I think I need to try natural instead.

My experience dip is a lot weaker than snus. I don't feel like having a monster pinch in with it but I can see how some could go through a can fast taking monster pinches.

All in all it is not unpleasant. I am basically having it as my tobacco "night cap", the spitting is obviously a slight hassle. I can see having a can around here and there to break up the flavor chain of snus with something different. I think I will have to try some chaw soon.

The one thing that is a big deal though is when it comes to dip, here in the SE there is plenty of affordable and local availability. Also the spitting kind of makes for a "thing to do" helping with the hand to mouth actions of cigarettes. Next stop will be cope natural longcut (or I guess it is extra long cut). And then I think I will have to try the original cope snuff.

OK so I have tried this stuff upper deck. Kind of like it there. Less need to spit, well spit as often. I did a small pinch, like a small prilla of los, tiny. Just wanted to try it. Mutes the over sweet flavor of the straight so I like that. I could deal with this if snus gets even hard to procure. I need to go ahead and try the cope snuff when I get a chance. Also I find the nicotine hit from even this ultra tiny pinch upper decked to be satisfactory.

If dip didn't tear up my gums I would still be doing it.

Naaahhhhh. I'd probably quit tobacco before I used dip regularly.

Naaaahhhh. I'd probably make my own snuff.
