    Problems with Cope Wintergreen?

Hey all, I'm new here, but not to dipping. I usually am a Cope Snuff/Black guy, and I also enjoy Red Man and other chew as well...

Well, issue is, I can dip all of those just fine and catch the buzz/rush fine (not addicted, I use it to relax when needed), but I seem to have a terrible reaction with Cope Wintergreen. Everytime I've dipped it, no matter how small/large the pinch, fresh, older, doesn't matter, it makes me sick as a dog for hours to the point where I'm doubled over like I have the flu. Has anyone else had this kinda reaction to this or another dip? Is it just that Wintergreen has a larger amount of nicotine or something? I know the common answer would be to man up and you'll get used to it or bad can of it, etc., but this happens EVERY time I dip it, and with no other kind of dip. Just curious if it's a larger nicotine rush or something. Thanks for any input/suggestions, and look forward to contributing to this awesome forum.

Maybe you have an issue with the wintergreen flavoring.

Wintergreen should never be mixed with tobacco unless you are trying to induce vomiting for medical reasons.

I had this the first two times when I dipped Copenhagen Wintergreen -

but I learned that I like way more Grizzly Wintergreen (don't get me wrong Copenhagen Wintergreen is awesome, but Grizzly is just better, even better than Skoal)

I would try another wintergreen but maybe not Grizzly/Kodiak because I believe they have even more FREE nicotine then COPE products.
Then you would know wether you are allergic or not.

I notice nothing different about Cope wintergreen in relation to other dips that I use.

Thanks for your input guys, nice to know someone else has experienced this as well. I've only dipped it 3 times ever because of the reaction each time, and I thought it might go away the next time but never has. The wintergreen definitely smells nice, and it's always super cheap (somewhere around 2.50ish!) but I just can't physically dip it lol. Anyways, what are some good other wintergreens to try? I'm a fan of Grizzly's 1900 but have never had any other flavors/cuts from them...any other reputable wintergreens? I may just stick to my usual Snuff and Black, but it seems that Cope Black is being faded out again soon since cans are quickly disappearing without being re-stocked, so I'd like to branch out to a new flavor now and then.

I think the problem isn't with the wintergreen, but with the nicotine content. I'm a heavy dipper, and when I first started dipping, copenhagen and skoal would both make me very sick. Now that I don't get that "rush" and am pretty much tolerant to nicotine, no dip makes me ill, including copenhagen.

The only real difference between different brands of dips to those who aren't yet tolerant is how quickly and in what kind of dose nicotine makes them ill. For cheaper brands, it takes a much larger dip held for a much longer period of time to make one ill, as opposed to a relatively small amount of copenhagen inducing it very quickly.

Ah honestly im saddened to see this product, dont seem right. Everyone knows cope is best at makimg snuffs an staights and skoal is more on top of market for odd flavors, most disvusting, and everypne knows grizz is only wg that should exist. Oh well at least we arent seeimg cope berry yet ill cry and puke at sa,e time were that to happen. Anyhow posters are rigjt grizz wg is likely very strongest nic wise dip around and i would dare to say sronger than cope. Also you could have a problem with cope wgs flavorings or wg in general, i know for me grizz straights flavorings seem to have an almost allergic reaction
Remember grizz wg and likely copes wg are the stromgest dip you can buy. Curious if amy other brands wg make you ill and also curious if you aremt used too very strong dips ill watch this thread as im curious as to your experiences good luck happy dipping!

Sorry just noticed your a cope snuffer so highly doubt you cant handle nico content. Its either copes flavorings or wg itself id try grizzz wg because if you can handle wg its easily the best flavored dip around sorry for my spelling btw mobile debices are a bitch

@Slipmeamickyyo: Yeah I'm beginning to think it's the way Cope flavors its WG...I've never had an issue with Cope Snuff (it's my favorite by far) or Cope Black (the new one), Whiskey Blend, Straight, or anything else. I've never really researched the levels of nicotine in each, or Cope's products in general though...anyone have any info on that compared to other brands?

To quantify the nicotine in Copenhagen Wintergreen: I just re-mortgaged my house to get a tin of this for $17. Here in Canada tobacco products are required to have the nicotine content listed on the package. This stuff weighs in at 24.1 mg/g of nicotine, more than Oden's extreme! In case anybody else is interested, the other "Toxic constituents" listed are .0003mg lead, and .009mg nitrosamines.

that's quite a lot of nicotine, however I still think Oden's Xtreme is stronger.

is that bad for nitrosimes? Ive been thinking of trying it but the rumor that it is cancer in a can isnt appealing
