    First Dip Experience

    My cousin offered me some Grizzly Long Cut Wingergreen a few days ago when I was visiting relatives in Montréal. I noticed something weird though, it wasn't as strong as I had expected, I hadn't had snus'd since April (just didn't feel like it) yet it felt about the same strength in terms of nicotine as a 8mg lös. I've been trolled several times on YouTube by dippers saying that grizzly dip will have me on my arse and that 'snus is for pussies' as one troll had put it. Just felt kind of weak to be honest, and thats coming from someone who hasn't snus'd in 2 months. On the other hand though it tasted delicious, like a smoky version of OffRoad Wintergreen Long Cut. While I'm in here I'd like to drive down to Vermont and purchase some TimberWolf to try since I know it's manufactured by a SM subsidiary, however I am concerned about the health risks, is this study accurate in terms of no oral cancer risk found in moist snuff from North America?

      It's harsh on your gums and mouth, and does cause cancer. However, I read that Pinkerton (now owned by Swedish Match) has gotten their TSNA levels way, way down. Close to snus. I want to think it was 2-3ppm.

        So Snus is way better than dip?

          coming from someone who dipped for roughly 6 years (i'm sure theres people on here who dipped for much longer) my bottom lip looked and (im assuming) felt like a 90 year old vagina. You can peel dead skin off your bottom lip every morning and its wrinkly and dry and wrinkled at all times throughout the day. 3 days of snus and no dip and things started to smoothen out and now about 6 months after not using dip and using snus instead my bottom lip is nice and smooth and its truly astonishing to realize that thats not even close to what it was like before i started dipping, my girlfriend has even commented on how she can feel my bottom lip is smoother and not wrinkled and gross anymore. Dip is fun now and then especially for flavor but i would rather pay 10 dollars a can for some snus than 2.57 for grizzly or 4.71 for cope

              Thanks for the replies guys. To be honest, after smoking cigarettes, I don't really mind trying a can of dip since it's summer and I'm outside a lot so I can spit XD however I'll still only be using snus due to the fact that I can't be spitting all the time and it is a nuisance, not to mention detrimental to my oral health.

              Something interesting to look at though, even skoal's TSNA level has gone down to acceptable levels, 4µg/g as it appears on this can of Canadian skoal compare that to 2µg/g for Ettan! So maybe a can of skoal cherry during summer hockey should be fine XD

                I have some Skoal and Copenhagem coupons. I've been contemplating some Copenhagen snuff. It isn't something I'd want to do a lot of, but it's been awhile since I had it. It might be a nice change of pace.

                  I agree lx, It changes up the rotation every once and a while, although it's something I could only do during the warm months, not a big fan of spitting into a bottle indoors, if I'm going to spit it's going to be on the pavement/grass/neighbour's pool

                    Cope snuff is good but I could never keep the stuff packed properly, pref the long cut as it doesn't move about. Its the closest tasting dip to snus IMO and not too sweet, its no Ettan though. However I do love a fruity skoal from time to time.

                      How do they work out the nic level? What weight of dip does that relate too? If they want to put those levels on they should at least tell you what size pinch gives that level of nic. I can't use too much of Skoal Berry as it is very sickly sweet to me but nice once every few months, Skoal Apple, Peach and Citrus are my fav fruity ones, Twolf peach is also very very good.

                        @Skell18

                        I believe it's 1g as the toxic constituent list is measured per 1g, also that amount of nicotine may not be the bioavailable amount due to acidic pH of dip and total nicotine absorbed via the intrabuccal route vs how much is left in the soon to be disposed dip wad.
