    Anyone dip dry snuff ?

I just wonder: anybody here who dips dry snuff / american scotches ?? I do and i like it. I use a small spoon to get a dose out of the container and then just place it in my lip. First moment is dusty (as hell) but soon enought the good friend salvia shows up and transforms everything in some mud. I just wait each turn until enought salvia is there and then spit it out. I repeat this until all the snuff is gone. Really like it.

At the moment i use: TOPS Sweet Snuff, Wild Cherry, W.E.Garrett&Sons Scotch Snuff & Sweet Mild Snuff, Red Seal, Railroad Mills Scotch Snuff.

I wonder what Rodu would have to say about this other then possibly dry snuff has higher TSNA's or the powder over time might seep into gum tissue at a faster rate. ALso I think the use of a dipped snuff stick can cause irritation over time.

The above study lead me to this one

They where trying to find out if the high rate of chew in WV increased the oral cancer rate, and found the opposite. WV had lower oral cancer rates then the rest of the country.

Only done it a few times for anachronistic purposes and general curiosity. Not unpleasant, but don't necessarily see the point.

Honey Bee and Checkerberry are pretty tasty, other sweet scotches just taste like burnt sugar.

My grandmother did for about 50 years, had about a million snuff glasses, they put it in a glass you would keep. She used a baby spoon to place it in her lip, nobody ever kissed granny on the lips!

I thought I posted this already. Here goes again. What about the ph changing properties of oral tobacco to make the goods more available. Snuff is for the nose and would be different. Correct?

American dipping snuff is intended for oral use, and it has been PH modded. There is plenty of whatever you are looking for available in most American snuffs, which are all aimed at oral consumption, and English snuffs are not intended for dipping, for they were never used that way. Two different animals. Both probably bad if used orally BTW. The nose is not prone to cancers. The heavy use of Fire cured tobacco in American snuffs make them hazardous orally, they are also quite alkaline.

The goods are available without any further PH manipulation....... any more PH just burns. Bruton and Rooster will wind your watch! If you feel a need for a little something more, whatever you call it, WTA, or Vit N, A rooster booster will get the job done IMHO!

I know an old lady who dips navy snuff. She stuffs napkins in her pocket and spits in there when she feels the need. Real hit with the fellas that one.

My local grocery store has 16 different kinds of dipping snuff, there must be lots of closet dippers, it is an old southern thing.

I used to dip the scotches. I liked them. Bruton was a favorite, and the sweets tasted good too.
A part of me misses them. But I quit oral tobacco a while back, as my gums concern me.

I have dipped Garrett snuff before. Spitfire's description of the process is pretty damn accurate. It is like concrete in the lip.

I did run out of any scotch snuff a few months back. Unfortunatly the german nasal snuff i did buy it from doesnt have it anymore and it seems that they will not get any back in stock. Northerner doesnt sells it. Maybe i have to use MrSnuff to get some since i really miss it. Unfortunatly, they seem a bit costy. Well, have to think.

My Grandmother had about 500 glasses from Garret. They used to sell the sweet in 6 ounce glasses. We never ever kissed granny on the lips.
