    Why do people hate pouches?

I'd seen alot of hate for pouches online.. YouTube videos etc. Seems like alot of people dislike them. So I never really bought any because I assumed they weren't great.

So just out of curiosity I got myself some Copenhagen pouches from Northerner.. just to try and I'm surprised to say, I really like them. Nice that you can have a perfect size so you kinda know how much you're using each time.. and you feel the amount you use isn't enough you just keep adding or stacking them. I find a smaller amount like 2-3 is just nice for me.. but I'm pretty new to dipping and I don't really use a huge amount/quantity.

I find them alot more discreet, cleaner and easier.. simpler and stuff. I heard alot about a teabag taste but I really don't notice it all that much. I put a few in and forget about them and they're fine in my opinion. Plus no pieces breaking apart and floating around in your mouth.

Not being from the US I don't really know anyone or the reason for the dislike of them. Is anyone here a fan of them? Why do so many people seem to hate them? I have to say I quite like them so far.

    Opinions on why the hate?

No opinion really, but I've used portion mostly with very little los other than some mixed roll your owns which I have done. I find that the flavor release with portion is quicker and stronger and the convenience is well worth the extra cost.

      What Burnsey said.

Also, I think if you come from a dip background you may hear people dissing portion tobacco. If you come from a snus background I don't think you will hear anyone complaining about either but most snus users do have a preference. I way prefer portions.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I agree with pp if you come from dip they say pouches are for pussies lol but in the Snus world most people prefer portions. Portions and loose are two completely different things in my opinion. I like some things in loose that I completely hate the portion variety and there are some portions I like but I can’t stand the loose. I think dip is different as the pouches are pretty close to the same taste as the long cut/fine cut but it’s more of an ego thing lol

I’ve never used dip, just snus. I use lös once in a while, but prefer portion because of the convenience. I prefer my tea in teabags, too.

Thanks to everyone for all the comments. I have an understanding of it now. I guess some people see it as an ego thing then? Kind of like.. drinking whiskey straight opposed to putting a splash of soda in it? So Snus users would choose the portions and dip people choose the loose.

I was also wondering.. what actually is the difference between American dipping tobacco pouches and Swedish "snus" pouches? Aren't the basically the same thing? I'm kinda confused about that. I haven't had Snus.. but I've had dip pouches. Just wondered if there is any real difference or is it just a matter of where they're from? Sweden vs US.

            Thanks

I came to snus from dip.....I mainly use los......that said there are times for me when a portion (pouch) is very much needed and appreciated.

I like the money savings of los and the ability to control the amount and the pack. However when I am in a meeting or a more public setting Portions are great. I have both in my arsenal and would not be without either

Hi Snusdog. Sorry if this is a silly question.. but what is Los? I've seen a number of people mention it in this thread and others and I don't know what it actually is. I Googled it and nothing came up.. except a bunch of South American and Spanish tobacco stores, haha. As they all began with "Los". " I take it that it's something different from dip and snus? Also, would you say dip pouches are technically pretty much the same as snus? I figured they must be.. as they're little portions of tobacco inside little paper-like pouches? Thank you.

For me its just not worth the money cause you have to put in 4 or 5 pouches. If normal pouches were as strong as snus or just bigger id prefer it.

Actually they don't hate pouches. 80% of the snus sold in Sweden is now in pouches.

i prefer pouches when i snused but way prefer my tea loose. I did use los some times but was never too keen of the messyness, one good reason i see for los snus is that your able to adjust your dosage to how you feel rather then being stuck on a can of regular, stark, extra stark or extreme. TBH i think thats why i prefer loose tea. man do i love loose tea. though even that is pretty messy with the discarded ends. but at least it doesnt make a mess on your teeth or in the sink after a mouth rinse that seems all too nececery with loose snus.

When it comes to snus, 80% of the markets including Sweden use portion snus over los now.

Snus seems easier as portions, upper lipped. But dip sits better as a long cut in the bottom lip, I think.

"Los" is the Swedish term for snus not in portions.
