    Copenhagen Straight Long Cut

    ?

Is this that ol'e Copenhagen chaw some of you are talking about being a bit of a standout? It's only available in "Long Cut", correct? Oh, and what is with the "Sell by...." date format now - back when I dipped regular Copenhagen snuff, the dates were always the "Made On...."

So confused. One last question. Have they stopped adding fiberglass to the tobaccy yet?

I think it's great. Only time I ever bought a log of dip, I was so impressed. The wonderful fiberglass flavor is the best.

...Groans.... what about the formaldehyde content? Does it still have that 'numbing' effect to counteract with the fiberglass? I need all the information I can get before I take the plunge and crack this tin. never been so nervous to open a tin of dip...

I have only tried the Red Man straight other then this one but the Cope did taste better.

you will be glad to hear they quit using formaldehyde a while back. They are using recycled battery acid instead now. something about it being alittle cheaper.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

            Initial Impressions:

It has this really strange kinda foul chemically smell upon opening the tin. Almost scared me off.

Holy crap, is this shit sweet as in 'sugary' tasting.

I keep wanting to swaller it like candy but still spitting only letting the residual caress my throat and feels like my throat is being coated in sugar.

I'm seriously getting a sort of "formaldehyde" background taste in this. Seriously, although I can't say I actually know what formaldehyde tastes like but there is certainly some kinda odd chemical in this that is not present in ANY snus I've tried to date.

The 'cut' is pretty decent, packs and stays well in the lower lip.

I will likely use up this tin BUT can't see myself buying anymore. Too damn sweet & that friggen chemical taste I can't put my finger on wtf it is.

Good enough for a 'very occasional' -changeup- when you have a knack for something sweet and don't mind spitting.

--the above observations all made within first 15 min.s... stay tuned--

            --------------------

            Edit: PP mentioned

They are using recycled battery acid instead now.
Seriously, You might very well be onto something here.

Well, compared to original Copen, it is sweet, kinda spicey, maybe kinda salty. I didn't find it overly sweet, and still had that bold tobacco flavor. I also got something that tasted kinda berry-like, maybe that was the battery acid. Though the fiberglass stays packed well, and I found it of a fluffy nature, it's so soft. I really liked it, and emptied cans of it pretty fast.

To be honest, so far the fiberglass isn't bothering me too much. This dip seems softer than what I remember regular Copenhagen Snuff to be.

I'm gonna crack open a can of this when I get home, as I finished my Levi Garrett yesterday.

I took another dip of this last night whilst waiting for my pizza to cook in oven. So only had it in about 15 min.s and that was enough. I'm really starting to get a dab of faint 'wintergreen' ala Skoal in this for some reason. It's not really wintergreen but rather that shitty chemically induced aftertaste except I'm getting it more during than after.

I guess I will be celebrating when I manage to get through this tin and maybe pic up a can of Copenhagen Natural LC OR Copenhagen pouches to try. I'm desperately trying to stay away from the original Copenhagen snuff cause if I go back to that, there will likely be no turning back and I'll be back to dipping a can and a half of it a day....

Well, everyone has their own tastes, but I love it. Many people love wintergreen dip, I don't.

Too sweet for me on the regular. I'm glad I tried it as I enjoyed the cut and feel of it...

Got 8 dips out of that can (well, there's one more in there to make a total of 8). I got used to the sweetness after a while. I always loved Straight flavor so this one passes. I don't get a chemical taste or anything. Remove the sugar and it beats Grizz IMO.

I'm with ya on the bolded. I'm looking for something that resembles the flavoring of good ole' 'silver top' Copenhagen Snuff with a coarser cut/less mess (like in the Copenhagen Straight LC), moAr Tobacco taste / much less sweetness / No 'Skoalie' - is that a word? taste / and I'm even willing to try their pouch dip if it sounds better to my liking?

                            Skoal Classic?
                            Grizzly 1900?

Over the weekend I was using a lot of grizzly and then had one dip of Redman when I felt a sting on my tongue. One of those taste buds looked like a swollen mushroom.
