    Non-tobacco dip?

    Hi,

I was just curious if anyone has tried any of the non-tobacco dips, and what it was like?
There are quite a few kinds available.

Sometimes I find it interesting, and there must be a market for it.
I think I like the experience of it, more than the nic, and might see if the store has some next time I'm out, and try it.

Bad thing though, at least with the non-tobak snus, is it's usually more expensive than to the real stuff.

I just wonder how it tastes, and if it's satisfying at all.

OK I'll say it and then the rest of you can have a mature conversation about nicless snus/dip if you wish

Snus without nicotine............... is like sucking tit through a sweater .....................it just don't get it done.

    There I said it

I just am curious to see how it tastes, and what it's like.
Like caffine free coffee, I've had some that taste like regular coffee. And I've had some decent tasting alcohol free beers.

It's out there, so it's curiosity to see what it's like, just to know. Then, if anyone asks, you can tell them, yeah, I've tried it, and it was terrible, or this one had a decent taste.

If you are referring to products like Smokey Mountain, which is kind of an herbal/mint leaf mixture, then yes. I once tried this stuff to try to quit dipping. It comes in a can like dip. It kind of looks like dip. Doesn't smell, taste, or feel like dip. It was a very sticky and dry with a minty flavor.

My idea was to ween myself off of dip. First can of Smokey Mountain I made about 75% dip: 25% Smokey Mountain. Next can 50/50, 25/75, and so on until eventually I was just dipping the herbal non-tobacco dip. Things were going great....and then well, I don't have to tell you what happened next, we've all been there.

But you may actually like the stuff and it work for ya.

          For a different sensation,
you could always try it through fishnet...

This post has been dogie styled

Reason for the Edit: two points-

First, the original pic would better illustrate the difference between portions and los snus-- cause baby there weren't nothing nic free about that honey.

Second, it violated the clean air, clean water, and clean post policy of the forum.

However, in the give and take spirit that has made this forum the special place that it is................... and in keeping with my general smart ass disposition........................ I have included a new pic to replace the old one................... Now granted it may not be as much fun to look at...................but in just a few posts down from here, Laz is going to post that he has a boner and CNash will say how smoking hot he thinks the fishnet pic looks..............so see it didn't turn out all bad

not that there is any thing wrong with that Laz and Nash...........in fact we applaud your bravery.

          Moral.............bemone the tities................keep it clean

I for interest sake tried some of these mint snuff bandits and mint chew.
            http://www.mintsnuff.com/

Very minty and the chew was like sticky mint ground up tea

The fishnet or sweater thing doesn't seem to relate to this, that's more akin to loose baccy or pouches.
This is more like decaf coffee/tea, or non alcohol beer.

A while back, I thought I'd experiment with some of the non-tobacco dips to alternate with snus to reduce my overall tobacco consumption. I tried Smokey Mountain Classic flavor--I really liked the flavor, but found it messy and sticky. (It might seem less messy to me now--at the time, I had no experience using loose snus, which I do now. Still, I would say it is messier, and definitely stickier, than loose snus.) Also, it has molasses in it (hence the stickiness), which didn't seem like a great thing to keep close to one's teeth and gums for long periods of time. But, again, I did like the flavor--it was on the sweet side, but had at least a hint of something close to tobacco flavor. But the mess and molasses just made it not worth the effort for me.

I also tried the pouch version of a product called Bacc-Off (which, I assume, is not the same as the V2 product with a similar name). That was one of the foulest tasting things I have ever had in my mouth.

Ultimately, so far, I have just stuck with snus.

I am somewhat curious to try one that is not a flavored type, but tries to mimic a real tobacco taste. I read of something called Hooch Classic, is supposed to be like Copenhagem.

I've tried the Smokey Mountain Mint. They even sell it at the gas station by my house next to all the real dip. Flavor wise I thought it tasted pretty good, but I did not care for it's consistency. The can I had was very fine ground and didn't mesh with me well. I then got ahold of the Smokey Mountain Mint pouches. They taste NOTHING like the loose stuff. It just tastes like a packet of listerine or toothpaste.

I'm just curious if they actually can replicate the taste and feel of something like Copenhagen.

the smoky mountain original was ok for a while. they put cheyenne pepper in it to mimmick the burn. it was messy though.

Oregon mint loose was pretty good, but the portions were awful
