I wonder if this would work with a soldering iron... I wouldn't mind making my own portions, and saving a few bucks...
Making portions from tea bags

I used a regular hand towel on my kitchen counter to make these, (in regards to an earlier question).
As far as a soldering iron, I suppose it would work. I would still use a regular iron to make the 4 seals around the pris and then use the soldering iron to make an even tighter/closer seal.
Maybe someday a mini portion will come out that I actually like. I guess I am abnormal because I can't find one and I've tried every single mini that is available on buysnus and northerner. I really like the flavor of the Vertigo snus, BUT for some reason, they dry my mouth out to the point I have to sip on water at the same time!

Since using los I find portion snus too strong in flavour, but I don't think I could be bothered to make my own portions! I guess it is harder to keep a pris in place when you talk and smile a lot, but I'm not too bothered about the snus getting between my teeth.

I've done the half-ass method of removing tea and throwing some los in the corner and cut it down to size then folded the 2 edges. I don't really use los at all but when I run out of portions the odd time I can snag a tin of los from one of the the Scandinavians at my school and it really is great as a temporary solution. I found that Goteborgs Rape Los in tea bags tasted better than the white portions.
It also seems like if you are good at making those portions like desirexe you could save some cash considering the amount of snus in a los tin is double of a portion with a mild increase in price.

bigmacemd is right - it seems we'd all save so much money making our own portions with a tin of los. If someone came out with a portion maker, the companies might just start putting 24 grams of los in the tins and that would be the end of savings. But handrolling and "hand portioning" would probably be a niche - everyone else will just use los or buy the portions.
The method on top is the best really. Similar to rolling cigarettes. I've done this before with cope - using coffee filters (read: dry white, very dry).
As long as you overlap enough you have no mess at all.
Also - make 5 or ten of them, leave them in the tin with the los - and they soak up the water and are less dry (at least that's what the cope did).
Just my 2 cents.

Hi!
I stumbled on this post and I thought I'd share my method,
which can churn out a whole lot of DIY portions in just a
few minutes.
On average, I'll make about 50 in 30 - 45 minutes
1) Cut the sides off of a large heat seal-able tea bag (this will
leave you with a long strip of tea bag material)
2) Fold 1/3 of the tea bag, lengthwise.
3) Use a hot, dry iron to create a row of small pockets. (It is
important to create two heat seals on either side of each pocket,
so that the portions can be cut apart at the end)
4) Add the material1
5) Fold down the top third of the tea bag.
6) Use the iron to seal the top third down over the bottom 2/3
as you did in step 3
7) Cut apart the portions, store in tins.
Here is a little visual:

and here are some of the finished portions:
