    snus kit question

you know when you get these snus kits that contain a bag of tobacco which you have to add water and things to - is it usually air-cured tobacco as standard? and where would i go about getting bulk air-cured tobacco? With these kits at what point does pastuerisation happen?

I am asking out of curiousity - i'm quite happy buying branded snus at the moment, more than happy in fact. I'm just thinking of maybe times when getting branded snus may be a problem but obtaining loose tobacco may be easier.

Forgive my ignorance with this :-)

You may find something on Google. The pros go to auctions and buy large quantities. You might want to contact Roderick from Toque. He's toyed with the idea of making snus, but I don't know how far he's gone with it. I think a kit would be right up his alley. Sell the components separately, and give instructions for use on another site; SnusOn perhaps, and he could avoid legal pitfalls.

By selling the tobacco flour only, that's just nasal snuff, and perfectly ok for the UK. It would cost you a bit more, but you'd be getting his professional access to tobacco, and having it professionally ground, saving steps.

    Edit:
I believe the pasteurization happens during the long bake. You put it in the oven for a few days. You may want to look over the grow/make your own section. I need to bone up myself, cause it's something I'm interested in.
