Wow, thanks guys! I`m actually what they call a Finland`s Swede; Finland has quite a large population of bi-language people. But that link is really a nice find!

Now I should think what tobacco brand I should go with? I have some N. Rustica seeds; so maybe I`ll go with them. It`s very high in nicotine content.

        Interesting project. Keep us updated

Planning on flavouring it? - or are you going for straight tobacco taste?

I don`t think I`ll flavor it; as an ex-smoker I prefer the simple tobacco taste. Although; it may very well end up tasting so bad I`ll have to add lots of flavor to it

Yeah, would be fun to try ... if I ever did it, I would go for the straight tobacco flavour and then maybe add some aroma to the cans I use from time to time. Maybe even try to mix different aromas too

Yes, I have made my own snus!

After I totally switched onto snus last year I dug out the remains of my old pipe tobacco and turned it into snus. It was unusual but very pleasant.

Method: I left the tobacco spread out on a sheet of paper for a day or two to let it go dry and crispy, crushed it in a mortar and pestle, added a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar, crushed it some more, added water until the mix made a stiff paste - and there it was - a gloopy mass of black sticky snus.

It was very good loose but tended to dribble so I wanted to make some pouches as well.
I dismantled some herbal teabags (finer mesh than regular teabags) and found I could fold about four slim pouches from the paper on each teabag. There is no need to seal the pouch. Just folding it keeps the home-made snus inside OK.

No need for any other chemicals. Just dried ground tobacco, salt, sugar & water.

Haha, he's like a nicotine-crazed MacGyver! Have to give extreme respect for the resourcefulness, there!

                        I guess not, huh?

But if the price of snus (read: the ****ing taxes!) keeps going up, I'll be ordering me some nice DIY kits and the parasites in Den Haag can bend over.

Hi, I posted on another thread [I can't find it now] that I was gong to add a few drops of vanilla extract to a few portions and see what effect it had on the taste. Well I did it. I put exactly 2 drops of vanilla on an Dirtroad coffee/vanilla portion and let it set overnight. Well I just tasted it and it seemed to make the taste alittle mellower/softer. I like it. I'm going straight to the kitchen now and put 4 drops on a portion to see how that tastes and if it gets too overpowering. I'll let you know tomorrow how it tastes. I might just be altering my snus from now on. I don't think it will fair well with other flavored snus but I'm going to try it on some regular tobacco favored snus to see what happens.

I gotta find some liquid cinnimon.

^ dip cinnamon sticks in vodka and let them soak for ~4-8 weeks  Keep it well sealed and in a warm place to speed it up.

^ Zero, that reminds me of an article I read about putting vanilla stems in bottles of cheap vodka. Makes the vodka almost pitch black and very yummy it seems.
