I've had good dealings with Fredrik @ OnlySnus but I don't trust any kit that says you can make snus in 12 hours. There's a lot of "me too" copycat snus kits out there. From what I can tell by researching the two best kits out there come from Kungssnus and Cuthof. Those kits take 24/36 hours.

      Yes RRK,
They also have a forum for tips and questions
      http://www.swedmax.se/phpBB3/viewfor...1934ad179c62c6

But you're going to have to learn to use Google translate unless you understand Swedish.

As far as I could tell, the kit from OnlySnus is the same as the kit from SwedMax, and the only other kit I found is the one from Vikingasnus. I'll have to check out Kungssnus and Cuthof. Thanks for the info!

You can purchase VG at Walmart. Look for the 'Humco' brand. It is USP grade, labeled as 'Glycerin Skin Protectant' and costs about 3 bucks for 6 ounces, which is far cheaper than any PG I priced.

Yes you can use only glycerin, you don't need to use PG. There's a Strengberg (Finnish snus) recipe on the net that uses glycerin only.

I'm half way trough the cook, so far so good.
Took it out at the 24 hour mark, to stir it up.
I've got a sample, non pH adjusted, non-flavored prilla in my mouth now.

No wierd tastes, not too much salt, kind of bland without the sodium carbonate so I don't expect much nic either. The prilla holds together fine. Same type of watery brown juice on my fingers as when I form a prilla of MonteCristo.

                  Sven,

Kungssnus, Cuthof, Cut N Roll, Tilbudet, Swedmax, Limpans, Lindgrens, PrimaFint, Bengt Sändh, Strengberg...all have a cook time in the snus oven of 24 hours to 5 days.

Cooking snus in a snus oven is a forced aging process that replaces traditional fermentation. Unless you have some special magical tobacco shortening the cook time to 12 hours is going to sacrifice the quality of the finished snus. What makes your snussat so special that it only requires 12 hours in the oven and everyone else needs a minimum of 24 hours?

And yes after the cooking process is finished the snus takes an additional week in the refrigerator to mature.

                    Yep you gote that right..

Our manufacture is Cuthof one of the best.
And the owner told that this "snussats " can be done in 12 hours. But we recomend at least 24hours. It is all up to you how you want the snus.

I knew the picture of the kit on the Cuthof site looked familiar. I see on OnlySnus that the order status has finally been updated, it now reads "Processing", I hope that means that soon it will be shipped. Once my kit gets here I'm probably going to aim for 48 hours and see how that comes out.

                        Glad to hear that.

Cuthof and Kungssnus (from what I can tell) are the 2 best kits being sold.
So that's great news. Don't hide the fact that you have Cuthof on your site.

And I don't mean to give you a rough time. I'm just thinking that someone that has never done this before can easily spend $50-$100 between cost of the kit, the oils and the cost of shipping. Then they get in a rush, cook it for 12 hours, are disappointed and never order it again. Bad for you, bad for your customer.

I will chance it to 24 hours

                            cook update:

I did a couple things different. I'm using Kentucky Dark Fired and I'm using glycerin as part of my casing. I'm holding at a rock steady 88-89, and no problems with it drying out so to play it safe I'm going to extend the cook another 2 days for a total of 4 days.

Hmm, think I will stick with paying $3.50 (maybe $4 later I have to start paying taxes) for my can of snus.
