    Guar Gum

Anyone on here making snus use guar gum as a binder? I tried some in batch 3 (Skruf Clone) and it muted the flavors and made it tacky to the touch. Used 5% for the amount I used, and I’m thinking it shoulda been .5%.

any thoughts on the use of guar gum?

I just had a skim read on Wikipedia - it sounds interesting. If I were to use it I would read that Wiki article properly and make sure you source good quality stuff (perhaps organic) as it sounds like it would make all the difference.

I splurged for pure and organic, I try to keep the stuff I make clean as possible. I’m looking for the old Phantom consistency, and I think this will do it…but there isn’t much on the interwebs regarding it as a snus ingredient.

I think I need to really dial it back and put it in during the cook. Might need less water for it to hold together well, maybe I can get a phantom brown clone worked up next batch. I’d try for the phantom blue but not sure how to source that sweet windex flavor.
