SnusX: The Experiment.

How is the smell Chad? I almost broke down and ordered a bucket but I saw several reviews on Northerner saying that SnusX has kind of a funky smell to it.

Proud to report back the portions are getting more moist.

The aroma coming from each can is very good. Very pleasant, and not overpowering. The Vanilla Cola holds the most promise, it's the best smelling one of them all!

31 hours into the 72 hour flavoring period for my 4 batches of make your own snus, thanks to V2's SnusX! I opened each can and stirred them around to make sure everything was even and distributed and found that the portions have all the moisture soaked in evenly, and were quite moist and smelled very fresh. The moisture content so far seems alot like the new Offroad portions, moist but not dripping like Thunder Frosted seemed to be for a while. The flavor concentrate smells quite strong at first, but now 31 hours in, the aromas have started to tone down quite a bit. They are now more mellow and balanced, and coming together quite well.

The Coffee Vanilla batch is starting to smell really pleasant, a little bit more natural than the Offroad Coffee Vanilla (I'll have to send it to a friend of mine who is the Coffee/Vanilla expert and get his input on it.), the Vanilla Cola smells AMAZING. I still believe this will be my favorite of this batch. The Coffee batch smells really good, like a rich roast. Last, in what I thought was originally going to be the worst, is actually starting to mellow quite a bit and smell very good. The Whiskey batch has toned down to a more mellow smelling Whiskey aroma. My experience with V2 and alcohol flavoring (*cough*OFFROADMOONSHINE*cough) hasn't been good, but this smells like something I could enjoy. After stirring everything and putting the lids back on I put the cans back into the fridge and began their last stretch of the 72 hour journey to homemade snus. Everything is smelling very promising, and I'm looking forward to see what the end result is!

I just spilled onto YouTube and have been doing snus info videos there too. So been quite busy lately, but really hoping to help those new to snus, which is why I started doing this to begin with.

I was using the amounts given at www.refillsnus.com and converted from the amounts they had given on there. Those instructions are step by step in English. I'm hoping my conversions were accurate.

I looked at the page. They say:

"Add around 0.27 to 0.54 oz (8-16 ml) flavor (for the whole bucket - 240 gram portion) depending on how strong flavor you like.
The amount of flavor you use should be deducted from the amount of water recommended."

But this may be a mistake. They say 8-16 ml of flavor for the whole bucket but appear to be referring to 240 1 gram portions instead of the actual 460-480 1 gram portions in a bucket. My guess is that they are referring to the dry weight (240 grams) of the whole bucket and not the number of portions. Therefore, if one uses what appears to be their portion calculation (and goes with the strongest flavor) one would be using two times the highest recommended amount.

The real test will be how your portions taste. I can't wait to hear how they turned out.

So far the portions are looking good, like original V2 portions, the aroma is mellow, and pretty pleasant. So if the amounts I used yield a positive result, I may end up sticking with them in the future.

I think just extract. It has kind of a syrupy texture. Not too thick, but it's not thin like water, and it's very concentrated.
