I'm not sure what comes with the kit and what flavors are provided, so I have no idea. I got a little bit of everything for the review purpose...

      Thanks for the update.
I'm anticipating the arrival of my first kit, probably won't arrive until next week sometime.
I plan on making small batches at first and experimenting quite a bit. Vanilla extract from the grocer vs. the vanilla flavoring, brandy/whiskey, using lemon and/or lime juice in place of some of the water, liquid smoke, mint (wild mint grows around here), lemongrass, possibly utilizing powdered drink mixes like kool-aid (mixed with water)...someone suggested trying to toast it like Lucky Strike (which I really miss not being able to get in the US).
So many possibilities I'll probably make every can different until I find the right blend.
We should all compare recipes after we discover our own favorites.

Chad, could you see yourself using this kit as your main snus, or is it more suited for the occasional smomething different?

And thanx for the review, very imformative.

Oh yea, I now see the breakdown on Northerner's site as to the SnusX system. You buy the tub of tobaccy then start purchasing the flavorings separately. Not trying to knock that by pointing that out, btw, only smart business there.

So in all seriousness Chad, please slip me a note on how you obtain all this snus for "review purposes".... :?: Inquiring minds want to know.

I think it's more of an occasional or "Just for fun" kinda thing. Not something I would use all the time. But that Vanilla Cola....wow. Good stuff.

Thanks for the reviews Chad! I opened my mailbox today and there it was waiting for me, a large white box and a little white box! The big box contained my big a$$ tub o' snus and the little box was various flavor extracts I ordered off Amazon. Can't think of a better day - just read here that the PACT act passed, today was my last day of being employed and the two boxes arrived at the same time! PERFECT timing! I've got a batch of rootbeer and a batch of cola marinating right now! I can't wait to try them in a few days! I love the sweetness of Discreet Rootbeer so I added some xylitol to the marinade. Xylitol is supposedly safer for teeth than plain sugar or other artificial sweetners. We'll see how it turns out! The portions smell delicious already though! I'm gonna have to try vanilla-cola, sounds like it would be right up my alley! On another note, the label on the tub peels off easily so I have placed the portions in a ziploc bag and will give the tub to my kid to use as a bucket for the beach! I'm definitely getting my money's worth!

Now I'm totally confused again. :? I thought we had to purchase a specific line of flavorings tailored to be used with this SnusX system in order to actually produce a decent product? Are you telling me basic food flavorings or whatnot can simply be used?

this weekend I've got tobacco seed showing up (i hope) and will be doing 12-16 tobacco plants this year.. I'll have a running series on my blog of the progress of growing, curing, & making my own snus. I'm looking on the flavoring experiments with great interest.

Crap..I didn't read the fine print, I just assumed that any ol' flavoring would work! Well, if my rootbeer snus tastes like poo, I'll know why!

A few minutes later - I am really not trying to push a non-snusx item here but even though my rootbeer portions have only been marinating for a couple hours, I just tried one and so far...so good. The only comparison I have is to Discreet's version though, which I am sure you all know, I LOVE! My homemade has potential though! I'll wait the recommended time before trying another though. They are extreme drippy right now and obviously the flavor has not had the full time to do its thang.

One more thing which I think is VERY important to those of us worried about that PACT crap. My bucket has a best by date of: Feb. 25th, 2012!! That's 2 years!!

Chad and Des, are these the full portion typebag or the more thin long type bag?
I ordered some Offroad portions last week and that full bag just kills my gums, sighs.
The Thunder I bought 11 months ago was a thin long bag that was comfortable. The Thunderberry I recently ordered had thin long bag but the Thunder Wintergreen was a mix of 2 cans puffy painful bag and 1 can nice long soft bag.
Chad, from your pics it looks like the thin longer one..or am I seeing things??

Thank you! I've got some Kentucky Burley seeds on the way and I'm going to try to grow 30 plants this year, I may just become your #1 fan!

Just got my kit today -

I noticed Chadizzy's kit came bagged, mine was in a big white bucket and came with one empty, unlabeled Offroad can.
I got the following flavors -
Cola, Coffee, Citrus, Vanilla, Menthol, Bergamotte, and Rokarom (smoke).
The flavors all smell accurate, and I have a few ideas how to replace them on the cheap.
Cola- at my work we have a cafe' with fountain drinks -I think it's pretty much just the cola syrup, so I can get Root Beer and Sprite as well
Smoke- Smells exactly like Liquid Smoke, available at the grocer
Coffee- We have one of those Maxwell House coffee dispensers, it uses concentrated coffee syrup
Vanilla- the smell kind of reminds me of Kahlua, which isn't really vanilla (but should make some delicious snus)

Please note these flavors are quite concentrated, I touched my finger to the inside of the bergamotte cap and tasted it. Don't do this. It made my lips numb and it's all I've been able to taste for 25 minutes and counting.

I am undecided on which combinations of flavorings to try first, I am open to suggestions if any of you have ideas. I am already planning to make Vanilla Cola, Vanilla Coffee, and Citrus.
I am going to see if I can get some of that Barq's Root Beer syrup from my job, and maybe some of that Coffee stuff.

I will research tonight and make a few cans tomorrow.
                          Should be fun.

EDIT- A few things I forgot to note: The kit does NOT come with English instructions, and the ingredients of the unflavored snus does list salt.

Just compared portions, SnusX to Berry, as far as size. SnusX is a teeny tiny bit shorter and a tiny bit wider and fatter than Berry. I had to actually sit the portions down side by side to see the differences. The SnusX portions are pretty soft and comfy in mouth, well once they are well moistened. I can't do the large, dry white portions.

On another note - it's been 3 days, had my first 'fully' done rootbeer portions. They turned out pretty darn good!! I added TOO much water so my portions are too drippy..just lessons learned for the next batch.

cool. I hope you can get all the bugs worked out before I get my SnusX. lol.

                              WHT is a "Rapp" mix?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
