Real Make Your Own Snus Kits In The USA

It's not here yet but it looks like it's coming soon. I hope this actually happens.

A genuine Snussat where you bake your own snus in a snus oven. You are cooking fresh snus from scratch unlike the SnusX kits where you just add water to precooked snus.

That looks pretty interesting. I wonder what the quality will be.

      Smoke, Mint or Red Bull?

Are those the flavors? Red Bull is not a very inticing snus flavor idea.

You could probably add your own flavorings, just as you can with the SnusX. It is a very interesting concept, and I'll be eager to hear reports from the first purchasers. Right now I've still got plenty of SnusX, so I probably wouldn't buy one of these kits as soon as they are available, but in the future, who knows?

Yeah, I'm guessing you could use the SnusX flavors.

I love the idea though. The 1,000g box makes 60 cans. Can't wait to see the pricing and more details.

Is my math off, or is theirs? I get 30 50g tins per 1kg. That's assuming 50% water mix.

I think the question is, will it taste something like Ettan if you go unflavored?

And, of course, does this produce a product as safe as premade snus?

Ettan is loaded with flavor, so I doubt it would taste much like it. Maybe Ettan circa 1840 :^D

As long as the base tobacco isn't fire cured, it should be as safe as pre made snus.

Don't forget even with 50% water, tobacco only makes up part of the other 50%, salt, sodium carbonate, PG/Glycerine etc. make up the missing weight.

In my crockpot snus 100 grams of tobacco makes 288 grams of snus:

                    http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...-at-home/page3
                    ratios based on this recipe
                    water - 150 grams - 52.08%
                    tobacco 100 grams - 34.72%
                    13 grams salt - 4.51%
                    17 grams glycerine - 5.90%
                    7 grams sodium carbonate - 2.43%
                    1 gram ammonium chloride - 0.35%
                    flavour and alcohol ---

                    total - 288 grams (6.40 45g cans)

                        Don't forget the E500.

I ordered a couple of these kits from Sweden last year. They aren't the same brand but I would guess they're about the same. I cooked one up last year and still have the other in storage. It turned out pretty good but not as good as Swedish Match's loose snusii IMO. The quality of the tobacco could be better (which is why I'm growing my own). Yes you can use whatever flavorings you want or none at all. I would recommend trying these kits out. It's fairly easy to do and the dry tobacco should store for years or more so it's a good thing to have on hand in case the apocalypse comes.

Here's a link to the thread if you're interested:

Note: Please be careful rigging your snus oven especially if using a cardboard box and lamp. You could easily burn your house down doing this(yeah I'm paranoid). If you use your kitchen oven be advised that a lot of them will auto shut off after 12 hours (check your manual to see if you can disable this feature). JT's crockpot method is probably the easiest/safest way to go and is how I will bake my next batch:
