    SM Blue

I just got some SM Blue in the mail today, and thought I would post a few observations. Wilson's has so many medicated snuffs, sometimes it is hard to remember the individual qualities of each, or to choose between them. But each has its own character.

I normally don't care much for snuffs with more than a trace of camphor in them, but with SM Blue I was pleasantly surprised. It contains all of "the usual suspects" in a medicated snuff: menthol, eucalyptus and camphor, in nearly equal amounts, as far as I can tell. I suppose the balance of the three is what makes the camphor tolerable to me. The base tobacco is similar to that of Grand Cairo, an attractive reddish-brown color, with a slightly coarser grind than Wilson's usual, and a moderate dose of nicotine. A little on the dry side, but I can't say for sure whether that's due to having set (sealed) on a shelf for an unknown period.

Altogether, it doesn't make the "Wow!" list, but it is a satisfying, enjoyable and well-crafted product. Well worth a try if you like medicated snuffs.

How would you all rate this as far as the medication goes?

I take it from PipenSnus' review that it is not over the top with the medication.........but would you call it mild......medium.....?

I remember SM blue being quite similar to Mc O&G, but with a finer grind, and the camphor is quite strong. But I'm by no means an expert on snuff, I'll leave that to the snuffers.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you like medicateds, dog ;-)

I would class it as mild, it is more camphor than menthol, but you get more tobacco scent through and a nice soothing cooling rather than a burn.

I would have to concur that it falls in the mild to medium range when it comes to "medication." It does bear some similarity to O&G, but without the funky aftertaste. I would guess SM Blue has lower amounts of both menthol and camphor than O&G. If you want a snuff where the medication doesn't overpower the tobacco flavor, this would be a very good choice.
