I think it was from India or some such place.

They also make non tobacco snuffs that are sugar based and are WHITE. I nevr would leave the house with one of those but I would try them out if they had nicotine.

The white elephant is a great snuff. Expensive but good. Hit up PP. Paypal him 4 bucks he'll send a sampler if he has any left. I'm on the way to dinner now. Got my tin of we Garret sweet mild with me. Prob do like jagmanns and go to the bathroom. I feel like I shouldn't haveta. It's not illegal but ya know don't wanna explain to ignorant peeps. If they were smokers I definetely would show them but they aren't.

I know! Hilarious how it's one of the oldest forms of taking tobacco and completely legal (although places that used to be "Non Smoking" are now "Tobacco Free" so it wouldn't be allowed there) and we have to hide like common criminals lol

Whenever a non-smoker gives me grief about snuff or snus, I just
tell them it's only about the nicotine .... and anyway, "There is no
smoke, secondhand or otherwise, so get off your high horse or I'll
just find a cigarette and light up just to give you an excuse to really
bitch!" And yes, I have said just that to one obnoxious a*hole ---
it worked! Of course I tone it down for anyone who's just clueless.
They have their addictions; nicotine is one of mine.

Ha ha... I gotta remember that about going finding a cigarette if a non smoker gives me grief about snuff or snus, and very true that they have their addictions; nicotine is one of mine

I've had some luck explaining that the tin I'm fiddling with is traditional Engiish nasal snuff and that it's fantastic stuff and is safe as houses. Helps if I'm using F&T with it's "Est. 1720 in Haymarket, London" on it. That angle usually deflects the "ew" factor and plays into the trace of anglophilia that the many of us former colonials are prone to. Works most every time. Even had a couple of folks, smokers of course, express interest and at least one is now on the snuff wagon.

Those English tins do look classy.. The past week I've been on an American scotch kick and I can't stand the we garrett tin. I mean it's cool and all with the history factor but it has the hillbilly vibe. I was browsing eBay the other day looking at antique snuff boxes and all which are pretty cool but it may look like I'm a higher class druggy lol. I'm not going to worry so much and just enjoy the experience.

Cool I'll get some next week when the wife and
I go shopping so I can send you the WE Garrett both
kinds. The grind is fine not as fine as the elephant I don't think. Wish I could send more but all I actually bought is toque and the Garrett lol. Everything else I got are in the little zip locks I got
from some fine folks on here from trades etc.

I've never heard of "tobacco free" places to be honest.

Snuff is quite nasty to be consumed in public. I remember when I was snuffing in public I always used to have snuff around my nostrils and especially in the cold season the brown mucus was dripping out of my nose.

You need to look in a mirror pretty often just to avoid getting weird looks.

We got them all over here. Big signs on the doors saying, "This is a tobacco free facility". I agree though, probably won't snuff in public, just snus.

The thing is though, that, to many peeps, smoking = tobacco ....
                                Therefore, NO TOBACCO.

Tobacco sounds classier than smoking -- and we must be classy!!
