    Storing Snuff (Toque)

I'm trying out snuff with the ten 10g cans for 9 offer at toquesnuff.com

When I receive it, what is the best way to store it? Can I store it like snus (I put the snus cans in a pringles can and stick it in the fridge), or should I store it differently?

I just leave mine out , it is dry powdered tobacco I don't see it going bad at room temp , possibly putting in the fridge would introduce moisture into it doesn't need and spoil it

I could be wrong and there may be better storage options

I too have wondered this. I don't use snuff all the time, but find myself using it more and more these days. I have quite a bit of snuff, and love it. Not knowing any better I keep it in the fridge with my open cans of snus. Makes sense to keep it out, but since it's fermented tobacco wouldn't it be prudent to keep it in the fridge? Or does that matter with fermented tobacco products?

The tins come in individual ziplock bags. I keep them that way at room temperature.

Leave them out, I've never found it to be a problem.

I've been considering getting some sort of humidor/snuff/snus storage box or cabinet for my den. Has anyone seen something like this anywhere?

I store mine in my nose. :-)

Actually, the toque tins are pretty good. There's a soft paper piece in the lid that makes a decent seal or at least better than many others. My experience though tells me that the cans themselves are less durable than others. Snuff gets in the groove and then opening it after time tends to bend the metal thus compromising the seal. You can always transfer them to glass jars. I've found that after a year or so they loose about 25% of their mojo, but it's still great. The more you open it, the more you exchange the air in the can with new air. Also, store them upright so there's less tobacco surface area in contact with the air. All of this is marginal though.

Someone posted on a thread to leave a tin open in your bathroom when you take a hot shower. This seems like it would work well but I've never tried it.

Whatever you do, don't store scented tobacco (pipe or snuff or otherwise) in a humidor with natural cigars. Humidors are really meant to regulate the humidity of their contents, but I don't think it's that necessary for snus or snuff.

I vacuum seal and store my snuff inside a small humidor [for snuff only] placed inside a huge humidor in my basement.

Rick you can get a small humidor about the size of a shoebox at about any tobacco shop. I had several of these small ones. I still have 3 of them left and will be selling one more before I move. If you are interested in one let me know. It is a light colored oak, I think. $30 including shipping is enough for me and a good deal for you or anyone else that may want it.

Toque snuffs don't keep very well for the long term no matter how you store them. I think its because Roderik uses water rather than oil when mixing snuff. Not sure if thats the reason or not tho.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I'm ready to sell it now if you [or anyone else] wants it. Its very similar to this one in color, style and size. Just a basic but nice box that is specifically made for tobacco.

There's no reason really to do anything with cans. I just keep those in the ziploc bags they come in and store in a desk drawer.

Economy bags from Toque come in a double ziploc bag, and I wrap those in aluminum foil for good measure. I store them in the same desk drawer.

Thanks for the pic dude, but I was looking for something with a glass top or glass doors...and maybe a bit larger. Hope someone else wants it
