    Snuff and Colds

I managed, somehow, to pick up a head cold yesterday and have been pretty stuffed up. Taking snuff seemed a bit daft. But I was really jonesing for some, so I've been using some Toque Raspberry Menthol. It has actually really been nice...It's pretty soothing, helping keep things somewhat clear, and seems to be helping as well with extra discharge related to my cold. Less sneezing too.

Just thought I'd share it. Mentholated snuff seems to be a bit of a help.

(Lime Toast, however, was a big mistake....)

I tend to steer away from snuff when I have a cold. (mentholated is all I use)

I use a fair bit of menthol snuff in my rotation but when I get a cold it is 100% Hedges until it passes. It seems to shorten the time I am sick...but I probably think that so I get better faster.

I find it dries up the nose, so I use it more if I have a runny nose. My mother asked me for my snuff once, because she had a cold, that was the only time I've seen her use snuff.

Hey, now I know how to answer when someone asks 'what's that stuff you're putting up your nose?'
"Oh, that's my nose medicine ... ... ya need a special prescription and it's very secret!"

That oughta shut up some of them... especially the nanny types.

I'll go days without snuff, then a week use it non stop, but when I do invariably I always get a sinus infection. I'm plagued with horrible sinus issues, and I really think the snuff wreaks havoc on my sinuses. I can't imagine trying it when I've got a head cold, but maybe I should try it. Anyone else have sinus probs, that snuff aggrivates...what do you do? I'd love to use it more frequently...just don't think I should or can.

Rick....try a neti pot. My allergies used to kill me but with snuff and a bi weekly neti pot I am almost always free and clear. When I need to drain out I do hedges or another strong menthol before a hot shower and let the "faucet run" blowing as needed. If I need to dry out a bit I hit up some american snuff.

Took a while and a lot of lurking at snuffhouse to get it figured out. For some reason they wont make me a member...I applied twice. I guess im not snuff worthy...

I'll second the Neti Pot, Rick. I don't have sinus issues in general, but I do use one once or twice a month just on the recommendation of Roderick and some others here, and it does seem to help keep things cleared up, even just from daily snuff use.

Plenty of places online that you can find one. I use a little plastic one I scored at Walgreen's for about 12 bucks. Works great.

We have really dry air in the house (forced heat) and in the mornings I am waking up with tiny amounts of blood coming from my buggers. Will have to wait til spring for a good snort! or get a humidifier installed on the furnace.
