By chance are there any flavored American Snuffs that can be bought at stores instead of having to buy off line?

Any information would be helpful. I am currently snuffing W.E. Garrett scotch snuff and dental sweet snuff.

There has not been a recorded case of cancer from snuff in the past 200 years. American snuff is not stronger than foreign snuff per say (though it is at the stronger end of the spectrum). There are stronger snuffs. American snuff along with the Toasts tend to be more finely ground and thus more challenging to take. Also, to many, the plain Scotches are more full bodied (smoky) than some of the more floral offering.....thus many consider them stronger.

Your sense of smell will be unaffected. In fact, for many (as they try new snuffs) snuff improves their sense of smell...............not because it enhances their olfactory ability........but because they begin to pay more attention to scent combinations.

I too began on the American Scotches...........in time you might want to branch out and try some of the other offerings that are out there. Fribourg and Treyer's High Dry Toast, Molens Gingerbread, Wilsons Tom Buck, Toque Whisky & Honey would be a good place to begin and would represent both the English and the Dutch traditions as well as the plain, scented, and SP types

      Hope this helps

              DONT DIP AMERICAN SNUFF-evidence...
              http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7193288

American snuff is loaded through the roof with TSNA which might be the main culprit in cancer.
I personally would give up USA brands for Euro if you are a user.

Think they are talking about moist snuff.

No, that's dry snuff. That's how it's primarily used in the USA. People put the dry snuff in their mouths. Using snuff nasally is virtually unknown. The TSNA content is a small worry for me, but I don't use much American snuff. I figure a little bit every now and again won't hurt anything. I'd like to see TSNA figures for something like High Dry Toast. That's similar to American scotch. If that had high TSNA figures also, I wouldn't worry about any of it.

I like the Plain WE Garrett in the white can. But as they have mentioned above regarding TSNA levels I feel better about English snuff's. Toque has had his tested and it is pretty much as low as Swedish Snus.

They have given you two good list for the 10 for 9 Toque offer. Of those I have most. There are 4 I don't have and maybe a couple not listed that I do have.

                    I like Toque.

Current thinking is that nasal snuff users live one day longer than none tobacco users. This is fantastic news for snuff users and also great news for snuff manufacturers like us. I'm sorry I don't have any figures for snus.

                      Smokers lose 8.4 years
                      non-tobacco users 0.0
                      Snuff users plus 0.01

                      Toque TSNA averages 2.95 - 3.5ppm. Cigarettes TSNA 150 - 200 ppm.

by my twisted logic, your best bet is to switch it up a bit between snus and nasal snuff. give your nose a break for a bit, then your mouth. been using a good bit of snuff lately due to the post-pact cost of snus.
i recently had a cold with serious congestion. i would take massive ammounts of fine salty snuff, and it just melted all the mucous out. a couple minutes later i could blow out great gobs of the stuff and breathe clear for some time. really great.

I can't really speak to any harm that American snuffs might do, but I also haven't read any stories about anyone's nose falling off.

What I will recommend, though, is that you expand your horizons when you're ready. American snuffs are okay for what they are....I actually do like some Garrett now and again myself. But they're hard to take as a whole, and are much harsher than European snuffs, too. And, for me, the barbeque pit only goes so far before it gets old. I much prefer English snuffs, especially Toque and Wilson's. In fact, Toque Bourbon is the closest you'll find to an American Scotch, and is one of my favorite snuffs.

And, as a few of the other snuffheads here will agree, you haven't lived until you're tried a German Schmalzler.

                                +100 on what Spirit said

Garrett is a nice change up every once in a blue moon. The little tube I have will last me the rest of my life. English snuff by far is my favorite. Toque, Wilson's, Mcchrystals for example. And I've tried a lot. American, German, Indian, and Gypsy snuffs for example. The English are masters. Try some F&T High dry toast and compare it to the American scotches. They are worlds apart.
