    movies where they use snuff

Okay, clearly we're not going to come up with a very long list, but do you know of any movies where one of the characters uses nasal snuff?

The first one that comes to mind first is a movie I grew up watching and even when I didn't really know what snuff was or how it worked, I was still aware that the character was using snuff. That's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, when Tuco (Eli Wallach) and Blondie (Clint Eastwood) stumble across the runaway wagon in the desert, and Tuco goes rifling through the dead men's pockets and comes across a snuff box and takes a pinch. He's later offered some snuff from the same box later, right before he's beat up. The name in the snuff box actually becomes a plot point. (And I love how Tuco never carries his own tobacco, but will take it when found, such as picking up one of Blondie's spent cigars or from the found snuff.)

Another movie is Sweeney Todd. The guy, Beadle, who works for the evil judge takes a hit of snuff right before going up to get a shave from Sweeney Todd.

There's another movie I watched over the summer, after I'd been using snuff, where a character uses snuff, but I'm not sure what movie it was. (As a recent convert to snuff, I noted the exchange.) It was a scene in a car, and the one character offers the other a cigarette, and he replies that he doesn't smoke, he's always used snuff. I watched a bunch of film noirs but in this case I think it was a foreign language film, and so I'm thinking it may be the French movie Shoot the Piano Player. Whatever movie it was, I know I have it, so I'll try to verify it.

That's three. Any snuff users noticed the use of snuff in any other films?

Jack from Benny Hill uses snuff. In fact, that was the reason I first tried snuff when I was about 13 years old :^D

Not a movie but a British comedy series, at 1.07 you can see this colonel take a pinch. Whole act is funny as hell, watch it!

I'm not sure if it transfers to the movie but in the book "Huck Finn" there are numerous refrences to snuff and snuff boxes.

Plus this little exchange I found pretty comical:
Some of them kinds of loafers never has a cent in the world, nor a chaw of tobacco of their own. They get all their chawing by borrowing-they say to a fellow, “I wisht you’d len’ me a chaw, Jack, I jist this minute give Ben Thompson the last chaw I had”- which is a lie, pretty much every time; it don’t fool nobody but a stranger; but Jack ain’t no stranger, so he says“You give him a chaw, did you? so did your sister’s cat’s grandmother. You pay me back the chaws you’ve awready borry’d off’n me, Lafe Buckner, then I’ll loan you one or two ton of it, and won’t charge you no back intrust, nuther.” “Well, I did pay you back some of it wunst.” “Yes, you did-‘bout six chaws. You borry’d store tobacker and paid back ******-head.” Store tobacco is flat black plug, but these fellows mostly chaws the natural leaf twisted. When they borrow a chaw, they don’t generly cut it off with a knife, but they set the plug in between their teeth, and gnaw with their teeth and tug at the plug with their hands till they get it in two-then sometimes the one that owns the tobacco looks mournful at it when it’s handed back, and says, sarcastic “Here, gimme the chaw, and you take the plug.”

I saw it three times when it first came out, but not since I started using snuff, so I can't remember the scene. I've been meaning to see it again and I'll look for it.

It's the scene where they were getting info from the nazi's. The Bear Jew beat one to death with a baseball bat, then shot another. Brad Pitt was snuffing during a good bit of that.

Ah, okay, no wonder it didn't register with me. It was a fairly intense scene. Nice touch by Tarantino. I had planned to watch it again, so I'll pay attention to that bit. Thanks.

Okay, I watched the movie again (which I'd been wanting to do anyway), and Aldo (Brad Pitt) takes a pinch of snuff from a snuff box for each nostril toward the end of the scene. If I noticed it previously, it just didn't really register with me as significant. Aldo also uses snuff two other times in the movie, which aren't quite as obvious. Again he take a pinch when they're in the basement beneath the tavern, and also in the scene where the doctor (or is he a vet?) is going to remove the bullet from the German actress's leg.
