Where to buy scotch snuff in the southern states?

My parents are taking a road trip to Florida next week. I mentioned that maybe they could pick me up some tobacco common in the southern states (i.e. scotch snuff). They are not smokers/tobacco users so I need to let them know what to look for, where to get it, and make it as easy as possible for them to pick me up some goodies.

    My questions are:

At approximately what point is snuff readily available at retail outlets in the southern U.S? I believe they will be sticking mostly to I-75.

Is it available at most gas stations, grocery stores, etc.?

What brands are most common there? I am interested in Rooster, WE Garrett mostly but will try just about any scotch snuff as I've never had it before.

What does it cost per container on average?

Any info is greatly appreciated. It would be great if they could just bring some home to me as opposed to ordering online.

Sweetbay carries it in the Tampa area.....a pretty wide selection. Alas, no rooster.

Thanks Monkey. I'll have them keep an eye out for Sweetbay stores - it looks like they're all over the place in Florida.

Food Lion grocery stores have it, but I don't know how far south they go. Last time I bought there(~2 years ago), it was ~$4 a tin.

I live in south Alabama, most of the grocery stores have at least 3 or 4 different kinds

Awesome. I'll tell them once they get down around Florida to keep an eye out for it in the grocery stores. Thanks all.

Well, they got back yesterday and came through for me, although it was not what I had expected. Check it out:

I was just looking for the 1 oz. or so tins, but I'm not complaining! I guess they don't realize just how long this stuff lasts. I'm really liking the Honey Bee and Tube Rose. Not too sure about the Superior yet. I'm getting a bit of a burning tire smell from it but maybe it just needs to air out a bit. Spring yard work is coming up soon. Gonna try to dip some of the Honey Bee and Tube Rose while I'm out working.

Nice score. You got the lifetime tubes :^D

Tube Rose is one of my favorites, and Honey Bee is good too. I didn't care for the Superior. Not due to bad scent, but just general blandness and lack of character.

lx - what would you recommend for a plain scotch? I just have to order one for comparison's sake. Won't be ordering a monster tube though...

Not sure tbh. I've had a couple, and I didn't care for either. By plain I assume you mean low/no smoke, and no sweetness. For a non sweet, smoky scotch, I like WE Garrett.

Food lion by me in NC has an amazing selection of scotches, from dental to rooster to honeybee, in the small and bulk tins.
