The Gawith Hoggarth snuffs are the main culprit. I find the Best SP and Dholakiah white the easiest to blow out - they're 'cleaner' and less irritating on the nose as a result. They also don't make me snot like GH snuffs. I also like high nic.

Got one question though - given the above how would you think I'll like the following two snuffs as I think I'll like these - Fubar Grunt original and Toque Spanish Gem?

I've tried toasts before Whalen and I don't like them but I understand that no. 20 isn't like a toast.
Well I am too biased on the Fubar Grunt, I love that one most of all. It's got the nic.

Toque Spanish Gem has a big following, I get a honey chocolate thing from it myself. I have some of the "real" Spanish Jewel, that's killer and unobtanium now.

I do have some idea as to what you are describing about the GH snuffs being a problem in the nose, but I get that a lot too. Never with the two you mentioned.

Here is the deal, You should get a small tin of WoS #20, your Irish, Try the Irish DHT. I am pretty sure you will really like it. Consider it a part of your snuff education. Lightly toasted SP, grind and moisture identical to WoS best SP, just that little something extra in the tasty department.

Remember the McCrystals S'nuff- little bugger of a tin, cheep. I am making these suggestions based on what you like right now. Everyone is different, but after years of snuffing, I know that a lot of snuffers like these particular snuffs. I mean you like SP snuffs, that is a big thing, there are so many types. McC S'nuff has moar Bergamot and a perfect grind. See some have completely different tastes, I know to stay away from those favorites, but you are showing a distinct pattern here that many others share. You need to go see Ermtony's reviews.

They only sell it in small and Bulk. Oh, I see you found it. Fubar can take a while to get into, it is subtle in flavor. There have been three distinctly different batches out. The latest one is most like the original. You going for the Gem?

I've changed my mind to the Toque SP Extra. I need nicotine and flavour.

As you are finding out, it is a surprisingly big world of snuff out there. I have a major investment in my snuffs, and I find about 1 in five a big hit. But there will be the "one" there somewhere. It is important to keep looking for the "One", you will regret the stinkers, but it cannot be avoided. Remember, revisit your stinkers from time to time, they can suddenly change into something wonderful. Your tastes will change as you begin to sauce out some of the nuance's.

Modern times has totally deprived us of the ability to go visit a competent tobacconist and have him guide you with sampling his fresh wares. But modern times allows us to go see Dave's incredible gathering of all known and available snuff, he has done wonders. I would break down in tears if i were to be able to go to any English snuff shop.

lol. I hear you about the tobacconist Whalen.

The Dholakia White is the closest to the 'one' so far - thoroughly enjoying that. Completely amazed by it really.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by the GH's - they're taking up room in my snuff box for better snuffs. I'm gonna run out of room soon.

Toque SP Extra is good, using some atm, you can get the S'nuff direct from McCrysals website, v.cheap and get the selection box for about £6 or so. S'nuff is a smokers blend for a reason, bit like the Dhol white in the nic department but nowhere near as fine.

Spanish Gem is wonderful, I have a real soft spot for St Clements though.

Agreed, I never used to like WoS Best SP! Now I love it and its a regular, F&T Old Paris is my 'one' though, never without it in my pocket!

Whalen if you ever come to the UK I can recommend a few good tobacconists with snuff selections that will have you on your knees!

Ah St. Clements fresh, Hmmmmm good. Great orange. Toque SP extra is a great one, although I never developed a taste for it, and when I went back to it those older crummy tins had destroyed the goodness.

McCrystals makes only two kinds of snuff fantastic and WTF>

Skell, you had the Hop snuff?

Old Paris is a wonderful creation. Skell thanks! But you might have phrased that a bit differently.

I have been there many times as a smoker. Never as a snuffer, sigh.

Those same places can offer you snuff nirvana too!

Haven't tried Hop, it is on my to try list, which in over 10 years of snuffing keeps getting longer as I discover new snuffs, and I have tried a fair few now!

Hmm yes could have worded it differently, but I have a dirty mind hahaha

See, I have some 35 15 Gram Lacons containers, these are the fancier plastic containers that Mr. snuff had, they seal tight as hell and I keep them all fresh and full. I have a custom made wooden box in front of my keyboard that has them in order, and out of the sunlight. I keep moisture crystals in there and a a micro mister of deionized water by its side. I just have to flip up the lid and go to town. About 20 inches long, my snuff bar and humidor. I have a large plastic humidor in the basement at 65% RH, it contains all my snuffs. It becomes obvious to me that I have a snuff problem every time I open it. Decanting snuff from bulk is somewhat a tea ceremony for me. I have some TAD issues, I have it around in every form, but hey, everyone needs a hobby! Right?

Three years of collecting gets pretty involved.

The base tobacco in Old Paris is some of the finest I have ever had, the scenting is not my favorite, but it is worth it. I sit down with my brewing buddies and pull 50 different snuffs out for sampling, everyone always goes to their favorite. Hopfen Schnupf gets hammered! So does Grunt. S'nuff, and Whiskey and Honey is always in play. #20 always gets a nod too. F&T HDT is a must. Wow Coconut, coffee, chocolate for the wee hours.

I sold off my White bulk, just too much pain, I like it but takes too much concentration. I kept 50 grams of white and I consider that a lifetime supply, but the pound I had of the first batch was snatched up by a white fiend I met. I thought he was going to cry he was so happy, that made my day. I bought the whole first shipment and had to keep my mouth shut about it, that ruined my trading plans but good.
