    New into snuff

After long time thinking in try or not to try snuff, finally I decided to buy some and start with snuff, and I like it, but I have some questions about it. I try to sniff very carefully to avoid snuff go through my throat, but sometimes, because I sniff to hard or because the snuff is to dry, it goes to my back of the throat. My question is, how safe is if the snuff reaches your throat? Can I swallow it or do I have to spit it out?

On the other hand, how often do you blow your nose? What happens if I don´t blow it or some snuff remains too long in my nose? Is it dangerous?

Well, I have a lot of questions, but here in Spain, there are ver very few people snuffing nor snusing and I only have you to answer my questions. Thank you!!!

It's very normal to oversniff when first using snuff, takes some time to get the technique right, then there are different grinds, moisture etc so not easy to master but stick with it.

Nothing wrong with with it remaining in your nose or in your throat, just feels odd when at the back of your throat. Also it can drip down the back of your throat from your nose so expect that too (if you have a sore throat and do it with medicated snuffs it's very soothing and nice).

The he way I take snuff isn't easy to describe but dropping your lower jaw down with your mouth closed (like opening your mouth but keep it closed) cuts your nose off from your throat which helps mitigate any hitting the back of your throat, it also creates a small inhaling force which is useful with dry snuffs or toasts.

Welcome me to the snuff journey, it is never ending and there are always new snuffs to discover.

I have very limited experience with snuff but what i would do was press my finger all the way up to my nostril kind of creating an airtight seal in that nostril and then lightly sniff. You can't get much force since you have pretty much sealed your nostril off and it goes in nicely. This usually leaves some snuff caked on the outside of your nostril you will need to clean off though.

Skelly's advice is spot on! That's exactly how I do it too. Snuff is wonderful, jump right in and experiment with different flavors and styles...that's half the fun!

For me it depends on how fine it is. I get nothing going past my nose into my throat with F&T Old Paris. Tom Buck and Best SP are particularly difficult for me - they're great snuffs though.

As others have said, Skell's advice is some damn good advice. Welcome to the world of snuff; it's a cheap and wonderful thing. Also, avoid Dholakia White until you get your feet wet. Skelly sent me some of that stuff and it nearly blew my head off. I've been snuffing for over a year now (give or take), and I'm still figuring out how to snuff that stuff.

Great advice here. You could also try pinching the snuff and literally stick/stuff it in your nose, bypassing the need to sniff. Or the wet finger method. Lick your thumb and forefinger, take a big pinch and rub it into your septum. This is a great way of avoiding inhaling any snuff for beginners.

The bigger the pinch the less of a problem.
