I use about a snow pea size in each nostril, at least with the Pöschl snuffs(they fluff up more). I use a bit less than that with the dry snuffs.

I have a sneezing fit and congestion if it goes too far up. When I take snuff, I barely, barely get enough air moving to take it. I try to keep my lungs out of the picture, somehow sniffing without breathing. And I'll take several small pinches, instead of big pinches. This keeps it up front, and my nose is happy. I'll do back of the hand, or pinches. Bullets tend to shoot it to far up, at least in my experience.
I have lots of different kinds, but have gravitated to the finer types, toasts and SPs, they seem to transfer vitamin N better, but they are harder to take. I'll wait as long as I can for the first sniff of the day, it gives a nice rush.

PP, your method is just fine. There are many correct ways to use nasal snuff and only one wrong way: Snorting.

There are idiot posting on YouTube of people doing the coke thing of snorting long rows of nasal snuff through a straw. Impressive, but stupid. If you transfer a small amount from finger to nostril, you've done the job.

I use ever smaller amounts and make sure I sniff, not snort. And, you bet, I made newbie mistakes of getting it into my throat and sinuses when I first started using it. Most unpleasant.

good to know Bob, I think myself and Parrots are mostly on the same page, except for the frequency of use! My Toque order came yesterday and I canot keep away from the stuff. I ate an entire pint of Ben and Jerry's 'fossil fuel' ice cream, the kind with tiny fudge dinosaurs, between every 2-3 sporks full, I snuffed some Toque chocolate. I think I know what a pleasant afterlife might be like.

I'm anticipating some snuff in the mail today. My question is if I ultimately decide it's not for me can I hydrate it and use it as snus? I'm gonna give it a go as snuff first.

I have to try after seeing you guys go on about it. I always picture bugs bunny when I think of snuff. I seem to remember a cartoon with maybe a Napoleon character using snuff? Maybe.

I like a good sneeze now and then, but mostly I hope to curve my allergies a bit and have some tobacco enjoyment.

@B.barber: If you find snuff is not for you, I'd be happy to trade or buy it from you. My buddy noted that snus doesn't give him a buzz like smoking cigs used to, but Toque's menthol knocked him on his butt, he's a convert too. The peppermint is especially awesome first thing in the am.

You can't have my nasal snuff.

                It is "beddy beddy goo!"

I'm pretty new to snuff too and have been using Toque's daily since I got it. For the best "taste" I've found the bullets deliver the snuff in more or less a spray which feels like it coats your entire nasal cavity and delivers it more satisfyingly than using a spoon.

With the pedicure piece I'm using as a spoon I can sniff a lot more than the pre-measured dose the bullet delivers. Even though the spoon-dose is quite a bit larger it 'hits' to a lesser degree. With either way, just a short, quick sniff to avoid much going to deep which as you all know can get unpleasant.

Although I'm using both, I recommend getting a bullet or three. For just a few extra dollars you might find you much prefer it that way as I do. I'm also gonna try some the way you all are talking about with the wet fingertips, evidently that works well too. Didn't dawn on me to be sticking my fingers in my nose, sounds like a good one for home use.

Just to satisfy my curiosity...which Toque do you like best BB?
I think blueberry beddy beddy goo, my favorites are peppermint and menthol so far. Chocolate beddy goo too[single "beddy"]. A frequent poster here on snuson was kind enough to send me some Wilson's of Sharrow snuff samples and their 'Crumbs of Comfort' is 'very good' but no match for the power of the mighty Roderick and his magic Toque factory. I think Roderick must be like some kind of mysterious Willy Wonka figure, but he' most definitely more normal than the fictitious Wonka...but I wonder if he's got a great glass elevator?

It's not an Elevator, it's a Toque-evator! An elevator can only go up and down, the Toque-evator can go upways and downways and sideways and backways and frontways and......... I wonder what Roderick's Inventing Room looks like?

(slowly stepping away from the Toque Blueberry............)

BTW: Both of those movies are my favs.

Well i will either pinch it between my thumb and index finger and place directly under each nostril and lightly sniff.

I also use a bullet and the back of my hand for shaker boxes.

I really hate the shaker boxes because sometimes they are so moist they form into lil balls and get stuck in the opening. Plus they do not perform well in the bullet i have.

Well. I just couldn't stand waiting for my toque to arrive, and the dried gotlands was a failed flying experiment. I found that the smell got to me after a very short while just like the taste did when snusing it.

I stopped at the store today and got a small tin of Peach Sweet and a tin of Railroad Mills Sweet Scotch.

Both are great, but I am having major issues actually sniffing the stuff. Even on the lightest sniff I can feel the stuff hitting my throat.

Finally, I just took a pinch between my thumb and index finger and pretty much placed it inside my nose and then lightly exhaled/inhaled to rid any excess and spread that which stayed. After doing it this way, the scent is fantastic with zero mucus discharge.

I am wide open to any suggestions to help get the sniff down so I dont have to just smear the stuff inside my nose.

I'm still waiting for my Toque. I anticipate Monday's post it'll be here.

The way I've been snuffing the Kendal SP and Poscl Packards I have is to bump out a little on the crease of my thumb when I make a fist. Then I close over tighter onto all but enough for a sniff in one nostril, then open up the crease in my hand enough to snuff the rest in the other nostril.

The cans that Gawith Hogggarth use combined with how dry and fine the two varieties I got sometimes makes me end using a bit more than I'd like. I'm still working on it. Their strawberry tastes nothing like strawberries BTW.

I've been fighting a cold but still craving nasal snuff while I snus. My aunt gave me a neti pot [look it up] a long time ago and I never used it much. If you snuff regularly rinsing with a neti pot is amazingly good. I did it last night with plain, warm tap water, though non-iodized salt is usually mixed in. I was shocked at the amount of clear discharge I ejected from my schnozz, flaked with bits of brown snuff! Neti pots are usually dirt cheap at most drug stores. I'm going to start rinsing my nasal passages before beddy-bye when I brush my snus-stained choppers. Seriously brethren, and sisters, if you're as hooked on Roderick's magic powder as I am, you'll want to rinse your sniffer out to clear it and make sure you're getting the most out of your nasal snuff.
