I've had some back and forth question and answer sessions via e-mail with Roderick with my first (pending) order, and I have found him to be one of the nicest, most helpful people I've ever dealt with. I must say (as the originator of this topic) that he has just about won me over as a loyal customer, even though my first order has yet to arrive!
Toque snuff - what about all the others??

there is no other nasal snuff...just Toque. Rod is a master of nose tobacco. I mean, there are some good Wilson's and a few Pöschl that are good, but Toque has me for life, the toffee is my new Crack, I love it, I must have it, I'm consumed by my lust for copius amounts of Sweet English snuff.

Ah damm you guys have just won me over -- I've ordered 5 tins (normal, original, menthol, toffee and vanilla). Never tried snuff before but it seems like just the thing when you need a quick hit.
Any idea on the health consequences? Is it nearer cigarettes or snus? Oh and any tips for a first time snuffer?

Others are more qualified than I to discuss the level of TSNAs in snuff (though even an extremely high TSNA smokeless product like Cope is still INFINITELY safer than cigarette smoking), but my understanding is that the level of TSNAs in European (as opposed to American - i.e., Bruton, Tops, etc.) nasal snuff is similar to that of snus. Don't take me as an expert there, though.
My main advise to a first-timer? Start with SMALL pinches, and resist the urge to SNORT! It's not a line of cocaine! Just sniff it gently as if you were smelling a flower - believe me, it will be (especially at first) quite potent enough that way! The drier (or "toastier") the snuff, the more careful you have to be not to snort it into the back of your throat (and Toque is a fairly dry, English snuff). Snuff packs an incredibly powerful punch, and the first-time user who overdoes it may regret it to the point of swearing it off forever (which would be regrettable!).

By the way, I would also recommend starting with one of the Toque "snuff bullets" (with refills of your favorite(s) once discovered), rather than starting with just the tins or bags, for two reasons:
First, the bullet is a very clean, simple, efficient, "take-anywhere" method of delivering snuff. It's less messy and less wasteful than taking a pinch with the fingers.
Second, if you're a smoker, the snuff bullet provides (I find) the familiarity of having your "hit" delivered in a form which, like a cigarette, is convenient and ready-to-use. (At least I find that when trying to substitute one habit for another, familiarity is more successful than novelty.) In fact, when I'm REALLY craving a cigarette, I'll prep the bullet and then take several very small "hits" at intervals until that "pinch" is depleted in a couple of minutes. It's really remarkable how well that method recalls the familiar hand to mouth (or, in this case, "hand to nose"!) activity and the nicotine-delivery rate of cigarette-smoking. Combine this activity with deep breathing as you snuff, and you've got a real winner (I'm convinced that much of the pleasure of cigarettes derives from the natural "high" obtained from the rhythmic deep breathing done while smoking, but maybe I'm wrong about that).
I would also suggest nightly irrigation with a saline nasal spray. This helps prevent waking up to a nose full of crap from the previous day's snuff enjoyment. It also helps soothe the mucous membranes and prevent them from swelling up and causing the oft-commented-upon problem of congestion among users of nasal snuff.
