Hmm, I've not tried this particular brand but I know that with english nasal snuff, I usually just make up like a 1" line on the bit of my hand in-between my thumb joint and my wrist and sniff it up.

It doesn't give much of a kick, but I've kinda stopped doing it these days because I hear it has a LOT of TSNA's in it?

Anyway, hope you enjoy... I wouldn't worry too much about doing too much, you'll get a nose full of snuff either way :P

    Peace.

I'm not sure about the schmalzers either beezle, but I doubt it's much different from any other grind. A good starting point would be about the size of a split pea in each nostril. From what I've read though, that stuffs so good it's difficult to limit yourself once started.

From several sources I've read, many types of snuff have TSNA levels in line with snus! I did read an old study that implicated some of the older US brands of dry snuff to have astronomic TSNA levels but supposedly even the worst offenders have reduced these dramatically.

Maybe someone else will post some links to these studies, or I will when I run across em again. More than a few of us have become recent snuffers. No lawsuit in 300 years of snuffin though, that's a pretty comforting fact.

TO be honest i have 4 cans of Toque snuff that i have no desire to use anymore along with half a tin of poschls.

I just grew tired of the mess that nasal snuff comes with and have no desire to revisit it

Not to mention the sinus headaches and boxes a kleenex i burned through.

There is very little nic to be found in nasal snuff and I couldnt possibly see hwo someone oculd quit smoking with nasal snuff.

I went back to snus and never understood why i left it.

If anyone wants my toque snuff i guess pm me and we will see what we can work out.

That's too bad Grim, sounded like you were really enjoying the snuff there at first. I too was having difficulty getting much nicotine from it for a while but have since worked that out. I can now achieve the milder symptoms of low level OD with little effort! :P

Do the Kleenex come with the Toque?

I love snuff. Been useing it for almost 40 years. I only use a wee bit at a time. I recently tried the Toque snuff and Toque is the only snuff that gives me a headache. I don't use Toque anymore, unless I already have a headache.

snuff does not feed my nicotine habit near as well as snus, but I love it

Nasal snuff just happens to be how I quit smoking. I used small quantities frequently. Eventualy (after the first few of the day) it just gells up there. The nicoteen release gets exponentialy larger with every hit.

I was getting tiered of all the nasal cavity issues as well after about 6 months, so I went back to diping (hadn't done that in a while). I ran acrossed snus and it was love at first portion.

I agree, snus is the only thing I need

Yup, this is a common experience that snuffers report. Frequent users are able to maintain blood nicotine levels that are on par with and even higher than heavy smokers nicotine levels. I found it hard to believe myself until I noticed the effect personally and read further into it.

I've never felt the need to stop snussin whatsoever though and happily use both. While I haven't noticed any problems using Toque, I'm too far gone with snuff at this point and would just avoid using any particular brand that caused me trouble. To each his own though, but for me snus and snuff make for an unbeatable combo. :P

agreed. Snus and snuff are great together. If I had to choose only one it would have to be snus tho. Snuff by itself just doesn't cut it for me. But like you said........to each his own.

Dito! It even wouldn't be a real problem for me to abandon nasal snuff. It's just an occasional treat for me, another traditional way to enjoy tobacco, but nicotine-wise, nasal snuff is more or less nonsense. To retrieve a usable amount of nicotine from nasal snuff would mean to use crazy amounts and to say goodbye to my sense of smell and the health of my nose in general. Not to downtalk anyone who does so and maybe is even able to do so without major health consequences, but I guess I'm among the majority of people for whom snus is perfect or even the only option to avoid the smokes.

                    Cheers!

You know... I do have some snuff sealed in bags at home. Reading this thread has given me a bit of a craving for some Wilson's SP Best or Stroudsburg. It's gotta be dried out by now and will burn like a mother, but I think I will abuse my nose a bit when I get off work.

Hmm I noticed after I take a hit of this Lotzbecks I get a headache too. But I think its from the explosive sneezing. The only reason I was trying it was to quit smoking. I agree snus is good but it dosent curb my cravings. From what I read here snuff was more like a fast acting nicotine delivery system. But to me its just not substantial enough it seems.

That's weird, beezle! Most new snusers feel almost overwhelmed by the nicotine in snus, when they first try it. Are you still smoking?

                          Cheers!

You need some HDT or High Dry Toast beezle or better yet an American Scotch snuff like Rooster. These will give you a definite buzz from the nicotine the schmalzers can't deliver. These hit you like a cigarette with an extremely fast acting buzz. Good luck with it.
