    Constant blocked nose

    Hi folks!

I have been snusing for 3 weeks now, and have noticed that I have a constantly blocked nose. I thought this was due to the fact that I occasionally take a pinch of medicated snuff, but I gave that up several days ago, and still the congestion.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? Could it be the flavouring in the snus?

I'm fed up of breathing through my mouth :x

    Thanks guys.

    Welcome to Snuson Raddleman.

I have been using snus for 2 years, and have never had that problem. Nor have I ever read anyone else having that issue as well.

Now the mentholated snuff, most definitely can cause it. Why many, many people won't use mentholated snuff. I would just give it a few more days. And we have many snuff fans here, try some none mentholated Touque if you keep wanting to do the snuff thing. I may sneeze a bunch more, but never any breathing issues.

    Again, welcome to the forum.

Raddle, have you stopped smoking recently? I quit smoking about 4 weeks ago and have had a few sinus issues but I am starting to chalk it up to my sinuses healing from 23 years of smoking.

Yeah I quit smoking about 3 weeks ago, that's interesting, I didn't consider that. I'm going to give it a few days like sage says. Man this is annoying lol.

Interesting. I had that problem WHILE I was smoking for a long time; it took at least a couple of months before I could breathe normally again. I used to have trouble sleeping because I felt like I wasn't getting enough air if I was breathing in through my nose. That's actually one of the biggest reasons why I'm glad I quit.

I too have noticed that for the past week since I've stopped smoking my sinuses are almost constantly stuffed up. Now, I can't be for certain that this is caused by not smoking, or it's the beginning of "that time of year" where the weather changes and allergies hit me like a truck. Of course living in Indiana where its 60 degrees one day and snowing the next doesn't help either.

I would suggest possibly not giving up snuff but trying a more plain dry one. A nice pinch of american snuff or a toast may make you sneeze and cough but it will clear out your sinuses better than about anything else.

I'm reporting back...with a clear nose! Not a problem now, phew I was going to throw in the towel for a while there. Clearly the O&G snuff was to blame. I'm converted, just snusing now. Thanks for all your input guys

Never had a problem with mentholated snuffs myself, but if you use something more plain, like an SP, QWS smokers blend, or Toque Quit, it should not cause the same problems. I wouldn't quit snuff altogether just because one type makes you stuffy.

I thought I was crazy. I've had a stuffed up head for the last 3 months. It is allergy season in North Texas now but three months ago?

Never tried toque sage, what would you recommend? (bearing in mind i'll have to avoid the medicated stuff). I'm keen to get back to my wilson's best sp.

Just to throw in my 2 cents, snuff clogs my nose like crazy. At first I thought it was mentholated nose spray I was using to try to conteract the issue, then I stopped using that for 10 days or so. I still can't use my regular "natural" flavored Toque snuff without paying dire consequences the next morning. Maybe it's my crooked septum from a broken nose... who nose. Glad your problem has been solved. I have certainly never had those issues with snus.

Toque Original is a nice SP. I love the Pomegranate and Raspberry Toques. No menthol just great flavors.

I have noticed that extended use [like a week or more] of any single menthol/medicated snuff gives me long term congestion, which sucks because I breathe through my nose for my CPAP machine and if I'm clogged, I can't sleep. :x

I'll start with Dholakia White. This is absurdly fine. I can sniff a scotch or a toast all day without any complaints but this snuff is finer than dust....
