    Silly question, but:

There are so many of these nasal snuff's called Scotch snuff. Does that always mean scotch whiskey scented snuff, or is there a Scotch style of snuff (as opposed to say, an American style).

There's some debate as to the origin of the term, but what it boils down to is an extremely dry, many times smokey American snuff. It's not the best choice for a beginner, as they're tough to take properly. Most over snuff the first time, and it's a less than pleasant experience. Once you've grown accustomed to snuffing, I'd give them a shot. WE Garrett is one of my favorite snuffs, bar none.

I started doing nasal snuff 11 months ago. I tried to quit smoking with it, but could not do so completely. I thank the Snus Gods for helping me to quit the cigarettes. I've kept my nasal snuff and put out different varieties on my coffee table for my guests to enjoy while they visit. However, I'm now starting to get back into nasal snuff again, since I have a sizeable collection.

Having just done a pinch of a bunch of different kinds, my favorites are Bestoke Gin & Tonic, which has a spicy, rich, eastern flavor; Royal George, which smells kind of like rose, vanilla, and lavender mixed together; and Wilson's Irish Coffee. Toque chocolate is good but the flavor doesn't last imo. I love the Coffee and Royal George in particular because they don't make my nose run as much. Wilson's is definitely my favorite snuff company.

I have some cinnamon on the way (which should go well with my Oden's ), and will be ordering some Best Dark, as well as some others soon. I'm hoping to get back into nasal snuff, which will allow me to give my gums a break every once in a while. Snus, however, will still be my primary source of nicotine, and my favorite pleasure.

what's a bit upsetting to me is I'm sure of some gum recession from snus, but since I didn't think to take a snapshot of my mouth before using dip/snus it's hard to tell how much worse.

So I keep this nasal snuff around for purely pragmatic reasons, If I want some nic but for some reason feel my gums/teeth are in a fragile condition I use it(and on the rare occasion to wake up). For me it is also a footnote on snusing full time.

It is fun to get guests of the home to try... they always ask tons of questions, then do it wrong and go "WHOA!"... haha. then they do a few more pinches on other occasions but usually stop...

I too am having some sensitivity with my gums and teeth. Had to lay off the sterks for a while. I have not used snuff since the early 80’s, when I purchased some from Tinderbox. I requested some samples from Toque, so Roderick is sending me some to try. I’m excited to try snuff again, especially now with so much variety!!! I will keep on snusing, in fact waiting on my order from Northerner!!!

Ladysnus - I've ordered snuff from all of the websites that lxskllr listed and all of them are GREAT! I'm just adding that if you order from either nicotinerush or mrsnuff, both are located in the United States, so you should probably get your items a little faster than from the other two. Also, if you have any questions prior to placing an order, the owners of nicrush and mrsnuff will quickly and personally respond (snuffstore has great service too) - with that said, toquesnuff.com is another excellent choice. If you visit snuffhouse.org, I'm sure you'll have a snuff order in comparable quantity to your first snus order.

I have heard many people call Cope, Skoal, etc..."chew." From my understanding, dip is not chewed. Dip is 'dipped' into the bottom lip right? No 'chewing' involved.

The ones that were listed are all really good. If you are interested, go to www.snuffhouse.org. THE place for snuff and most of the vendors participate there as well. You will see quite a number of us from here there as well, although I am WAY quieter there...for now.

And I am a sales guy in real life to. Work for a really small company that trains folks how to make concrete countertops. I tripled our revenues as soon as I got started there, and have sold out 3 of my last 5 classes. I am just really good at expressing my passion. We are REALLY good at what we do and potential students read that in me. I am the same way here.

Curious, has anyone tried Wilson's or Fribourg and Treyer's snuffs? I was wondering what others thought of them.

We are ALL such Nicotine junkies! I'm quite amused

I just barely have 12 days in me of snus and here I am getting excited about ordering snuff

I came to be a MRO smoker for 6 yrs. Have hundreds of dollars in tobacco that I bought last month because of the $26 per pound FED tax increase (SCHIP for the children)

                                Oh brother....peer pressure
