Stoker's sells 12 oz. tubs of dip for much less than you would pay for individual normal dip cans.

They were sampling normal size cans at a local tobacco shop for .99 a piece!

The Wintergreen flavor is quite good, and actually for the first time turned me on to mint-flavored tobacco. The dip itself is quite moist, and very enjoyable.

I got my new Fall/Winter Fred Stoker catalog today.

I put in an email to them to find out what kind of longleaf tobacco that is. I'll report back when/if they answer.

I was halfway expecting that.

OK, this is what I've figured out so far:
Fred Stoker & Sons Inc, operates under the name RBJ Sales
They got bought out by National Tobacco in 2003
which is in turn owned by National Atlantic Trading Company.
          National Tobacco also owns ZigZag
RBJ sales is the chosen US distributor for Oliver Twists

RBJ Sales products show up here:
Smokeless tobacco and some tobacco-specific N-nitrosamines By World Health Organization, International Agency for Research on Cancer

It's hard to tell what you're getting. Stokers pouch chewing tobacco leaf or the leaf they use for their moist snuff.

          1 lb = 453 grams x 4 lb = 1812 grams ÷ 250g/batches = 7 batches +/-

I guess grind just enough for one batch
and if the nicotine is low
process the next batch minus the midrib and veins

Wonder why there is such a big difference in nicotine content. That Yukon moist snuff has 4 times the nicotine as the chewing tobaccos. I understand that the sweetening process reduces the nicotine content but that is a pretty huge difference.

Their website also let's you request a catlog.
If they carried some Swedish Snus, imported snuff, or maybe some imported cigs, they might have something I'd order, but I really don't care for cigars, moist dip, or chew.

They sell Discreet. Maybe if there were more American snus companies they would sell that too.

I've got my first order ready to be mailed.
(New customers have to mail a copy of their Driver's License for proof of age.)
                      I'm getting:
2 lbs of FireCured Longleaf Tobacco
2 lbs of AirCured Longleaf Tobacco

I still need to order a few other odds and ends
I should be ready to rock and roll within the next two weeks. 8)

I mailed my first order last Friday figuring They would receive it on Monday. I received my order yesterday (Friday) via UPS exactly one week after I mailed it.

I even got some swag included for free:
Fred Stoker and Sons embroidered ball cap.
2010 flip style wall calender with farming type scenery for each month and farmers almanac type info.

The tobacco looks like it does in the catalog. The dark fired reminds of the smell from a campfire. The leaves are dry but not brittle. You can actually unflurl the leaves intact without breaking them.

I did some prep work last night. I seperated the midribs from the lamina. I don't plan on wasting any of it, but I want to grind the midrib seperately.

Here's the breakdown if anyone cares (I only did one pound of each)

Air Cured = Midrib 118.4 grams, Lamina 321.5 grams
Fire Cured = Midrib 122.3 grams, Lamina 334.8 grams
