My triple tech lid is very tight. Takes a little force to get it open. It's still fairly new, so I don't know if it loosens up after a while.

Yes, it comes with a hand carved bone spoon. I refer to it as the snuff shovel. If you slide the end to one side you find the spoon; if you slide it to the other side it becomes a tapper box.

The Patrick Collins snuff boxes are in a class of their own. I wouldn't bother with inferior boxes. They may cost a little less, but they won't work as well (or look as nice). The lids on the Patrick Collins boxes are very snug.

I recently had a problem with one of the lids becoming a bit loose. It was suggested that I place the open box in the bathroom while taking a hot shower, allowing the steam to work its healing magic on the wood. I did that, then allowed the box to sit overnight and, voila, now it is good as new.

so in using a snuff box, do you use up everything you put into it? i imagine id want to change it up more often than id empty it with use. in that case do you like clean it out in some way?

These boxes store a day or two's worth of snuff. I guess a few grams worth, so it's not a ton of snuff in there. You don't even have to fill it all the way if you don't want to. I just make sure that I have enough in there for the day and leave it at that.

The wood will naturally draw some moisture out of the snuff, and that is why they are not made for long term (or even really short term) storage. I fill one of them exclusively with Wilsons Irish High Dry Toast No. 22 (my preferred snuff) and I have a second one with which I rotate others, usually various Toque snuffs.

I've never had a problem with changing snuffs. If you air it out overnight that will take care of any lingering scents. I've never found this to be a problem at all.

I'm a n00b to nasal snuff. I have 2 Toque bullets, makes it easier for a quick hit. NO ONE I know of uses nasal snuff where I live. They would just assume I am doing coke or crystal :? I don't even know ANYONE that uses snus either. The closest tobacco shop that sels General has had the stuff for about 1 year and I was the first person to buy some about a month ago. THe stuff was dated best by 01 04 2009. South Florida sux

For now I guess this tuperwear container & my bullets will work.
