I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
You know I keep reading about how many people revisit snuffs and then love them, after hating the first impression, how much is ammonia? I gave a can of Tom Buck to a buddy for his birthday, and when opened it reeked, not a great impression for anyone. I crack em and rack em now, just keep checking them for a day.
Seriously. I mean like atm is a bad time for me to judge but what is with this "Ammonia" description I keep hearing in snuffs? I always thought that was the stale sock - sweaty cow balls smell I was getting. Are you folks sure someone isn't pissing in your snuffs?
Its like a by product of some freshly made snuffs. With alot of the toque snuffs it a sign that its fresh. Its easy to eliminate just by leaving the tin open for a few hours. There are a few snuffs that are meant to have the ammonia smell........why I don't know. I don't like it.

I've always thought that NTSU was meant to have that completely obscene ammonia scent, which is very different from the fuggy "wet dog" ammonia scent in some very fresh Toques, for example.
When the "wet dog" ammonia scent vanishes from your tin of Toque, the flavor opens up and it becomes the wonderful snuff it was intended to be. When the very different ammonia scent vanishes from NTSU, it's like the Grapefruit scent vanishing from your Toque Grapefruit.
NTSU is always sold out for a reason, and it's not just for the nicotine. It's partially because that very complex, ammonia based scent is unlike any other snuff, and combined with the huge nicotine hit, give you a sensation that's unmatched by any tobacco product. NTSU fans don't like to talk about it in polite company, but still....
I can totally understand why some people hate it. I'm just glad that very few people have discovered that the NTSU Menthol is probably even MORE depraved than The Black.
I keep about 100 grams of each on hand at all times, in a quart size airtight plastic bag, which is then sealed in a gallon size airtight plastic bag, which is then stored in a hermitically sealed latch top glass jar. Based on extensive research, my NTSU storage standards are more rigorous than Federal Laws governing the storage of Plutonium.
Yes, its the female human unmentionable that hes compareing it to.

The funny thing is I've never noticed ammonia in any of my snuff...until this afternoon. I broke into my 50gram bag of Quite, goodness it reeks...
It's probably true that the more ammonia smell, the fresher the tobacco. Ammonia is highly volatile, so it's one of the first chemicals to leave dead cells.
