Snuffing for 3 days. Now in withdrawal.

I'm a Thunder Frosted user and recently I've taken up Snuff.

I'm 3 days in and haven't snussed. I was driving the car and wondering why I was so grumpy, spaced out and nauseous. Then it hit me - I was right bang in the middle of withdrawal even though I was snuffing all the time.

I'm back on the snus trying to get myself out of it now and from past experience that can take 24 hours.

Anybody else accidentally done this? Does snuff contain a lot less nic than Thunder Frosted?

There's plenty of nic in the snuff frosted. Absorption into the body is different though. I'm of the mind that when you first venture into snuff your brain is simply confused as to where the nic is coming from!

I pinch as often as I can throughout the day, love the snuff, just love it!

    But

I also use from 6 to 8 portions of 8mg snus each day as well. That's what has proved the balance for me.

I agree with OTD. I do nothing but standard 8 mg type snus and it would be very difficult to get by on snuff as my only source. Much less so if your if you're doing ES snus. Well.... their might be a small chance if I did nothing but some of the high octane snuff. Unfortunately I think my sniffer would ware out in a few days.

Snuff is just a nice pleasant diversion for me, but I would be on very shaky ground if I had to depend on it.

        Thanks for the advice.
I'm coming out of the withdrawal and feeling a lot more at peace now.
I'll bear that in mind in future.

I am very interested in using snuff to help lower my nic intake however, so I might start coming down a peg or two on the snus.

Ideally I'd just like to use snuff and I think it's possible - with a bit of adjustment.

If you're trying to lower your nic, don't use extra starks. I haven't gone days without snus, but a few hours with only snuff I've felt fine. I missed the mouth feel of snus, but my nicotine was taken care of.

Yeah - I know not to use extra starks if I want to lower my nic. It's a recent thing this snuff. I've got a roll of Thunder coming in on Monday so after that's finished in a month I'll look go go down to 12mg and then 8mg. I might even then go to the minis and snuff. I'll take it down a month at a time.
But that was a massive dip to go from Thunder to snuff. I think I underestimate Thunder because I'm used to it.

try thunder frosted long+ (12 mg)

then move down to offroad frosted (8 mg)

if you want to stick with the frosted flavors

I myself went off cigs with just snuff. I was a smoker and dipper for 16 yrs at that point. It was hard at times like when drinking So I would have an occasional smoke or dip. So I realized that there were time at least for me that snuff wouldn't be enough. But generally speaking snuff can carry me through. I still use about a tin of oral tobacco a week (about 2 prillas, portions, or dips a day on average) But i use much less snuff than I did when i was quitting (5-10g's a day) Now I probably use 1-2 g's of snuff. What I'm trying to say is YOU DON"T NEEDA PORTION OR PRILLA IN YOUR MOUTH 24/7. I've really been able to control my nic dosage a lot better since getting off the smokes. This has to do with the way they manipulate cigs to enter and exit the body quickly essentially putting you in withdrawal every hour or so. You even said you went three days before the lack of nic bothered you. Clinically speaking after three days you have withdrawn from nicotine, pretty much any drug. It sounds to me like you really wanted a frosted. then have it but that doesn't mean you have to go back to having as much frosted as you used to have. This post is a lil convoluted but I hope you get what I'm saying.

Anyway on another forum in a galaxy not so far away a wise Jedi snus'er made a comment that extra sterks were not necessary. At the time I was just finding snus and thought the more nic the better the value. So i posted that I think that sterks are the best and theirs no reason not to get em. Well I stand corrected. While I still like some sterks for there flavor and character the extra nic is not necessary. Once I figured out my happy lil medium it doesn't matter what I'm packin. It is still just a couple a day.

So to that wise Jedi snus'er who may or may not remember said exchange, I publicly apologize.....

There's definately a difference between snus addiction and cigarette addiction. I could never have gone three days without a cigarette.

I've gone cold turkey successfully before and it takes me 5 days of withdrawal - despite what the doctors say. By day 6 I'm suddenly as right as rain - so for me I was right slap bang in the middle of it.

I'm using Thunder Frosted Long+ at the moment and I've nearly finished this roll. I noticed no difference coming from the 16mg to the 12mg but I think I'm going to notice a difference going to the 8mg.

When I initially gave up the smokes 2 years ago Starks were essential for me but now I think I need to reconsider.

                    Frosted,

Might I be a little presumptuous and suggest Toque Quit or Toque SP Extra. Both are very high in nicotine and very strong. ;<)

That's good advice and I'll bear that in mind.
Unfortunately I've just ordered a batch of WoS and Poschl that I think will last me for the next 3 or 4 months.

I'd say give the 12mg thunder frosted longs 2 or 3 weeks before you move to the 8mg minis or a different brand. Once your body acclimates itself to the lower nicotine consumption it'll be easier to go down again. In all honesty, it's possible your difficulty won't come from a lack of nicotine but a lack of buzz that you're used to with 16mg portions. Theoretically speaking, though, an 8mg portion should satisfy your nicotine needs and keep you from having withdrawal syntoms; you might just prefer more nicotine per portion. If you do go down to the 8mg portions I'd say give them about a week or two. If you're using a lot more than usual or still having nicotine cravings after a week or so, maybe just go back to 12mgs. Good luck!

Nicotine aside, the Toque SP Extra is awesome. Strong bergamot, and finely ground. It's similar to Samuel Gawith SP#1 High Mill. Between Original, and SP Extra, Toque really has the SP style nailed down.

I've got myself a tonne of stuff through the door today and it's been a pleasure to say the least. I've done some serious testing.

I've found a happy medium already. I'm using a hell of a lot less Thunder Frosted 12mg and using snuff in its place.

                            It's a very happy marriage.

                              Thought I'd update.
I've easily got my intake down to four Thunders a day and the rest is snuff. Knowing what I like and don't like in snuff now - I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on that Toque S.P. Extra.

Those four snus are like sex.
