I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I recommend Peppermint, Chocolate and Vanilla as the smoothest and easiest snuffs to start with.
For beginners try the wet pinch technique as this adds weight and helps keep the snuff in the front of the nose. Lick/wet your finger and thumb take a big pinch, let it warm a little and gently place it, rather than sniff it, on either side of the septum. This method works well for beginners and helps reduce sneezing.

Just remember that there is a distinct difference between snuffing and breathing. As long as you don't breathe the snuff in, you should be fine. When using lighter snuffs, I like to make sure my lungs are full of air before I snuff, just to be safe. Try taking a big breath into your stomach (yes, I know this is not possible, but that is the only way I can think of to describe it) before you snuff. There is something about breathing with the lower abdomen that makes snuffing (as opposed to breathing or snorting) really easy.
Also, you might try pinching (wet or otherwise) before you shove a bullet up your nose or try and bump off the back of your hand. I have found pinching to give a bit more control because you can hold the pinch right at the front of your nostril, keeping it from shooting through you nasal passages. You can also rub any extra in your nose after snuffing, which is kind of icing on the nicotine buzz cake.
Whatever you do, be patient and try and enjoy the experience. You will know quickly whether or not snuff appeals to you, but it may take some time to develop an effective way of using it.
